ACC thread...

I’ve watched you guys play a lot this season, you have a very strong team. With that said, you actually played the worst game offensively I have seen in years when you played Kentucky. If you guys shoot like that again, you’ll lose to whoever you are playing. Georgia tech got extremely hot in the 2nd half against us and it carried over to the Clemson game for them. I watched GT beat Louisville and Clemson, yet neither team looked anywhere near as bad as Tennessee did against Kentucky. They were letting you guys shoot and you couldn’t hit anything.
I think Vols would handle Clemson on a neutral court, our D would stifle them

To take it further, Tennessee hit 9-19 threes when we played y’all, most were contested shots. Now fast forward to the game with Kentucky, they let you guys shoot and you hit 10-45? Don’t doom other teams, because nobody has looked worse than you guys did in that game.

Louisville won both games last week by double figures and dropped a spot in the polls? Lol

Meanwhile Mississippi State lost by 27 and then beat Georgia by one and remain ranked? lol

Lets not forget though they lost to Georgia Tech,Boise St and USCjr. They are good but certainly capable of a round 1 exit with the wrong matchup
I think for the most part the second round games will be a challenge for most everyone. The very top seeds likely will only be somewhat safe for one round IMO.
Uconn, Clemson, Louisville, Mississippi St, Baylor, Creighton, Oregon, Gonzaga, Etc will be the type of teams 1-2 seeds will see in the second round. Should be a fun tournament. There isn't a UCONN/Purdue type dominant team this year IMO despite what metrics are saying. I also think the field in general is stronger. Transfer portal is making things interesting again.

I just knew unc was going to beat Clemson tonight just to add salt to the wound. Glad that I was terribly wrong.

Miss St has fallen off imo. We played em last night and they seemed so lost on D. We had open shooters every possession it seemed. That and we were without Martin or Condon.
Early on in the season I thought they'd be a much stronger contender. Maybe the scouting report has simply caught up to them?
Remember how amazing they looked @ Memphis early on?

UK played tgem in Starkville not long after they smacked Memphis and I would have bet a large amount of money they were beating UK's ass, but somehow the cats got out with a win.
Seems like they have been in a freefall ever since the Menphis game.
They did beat Ole Miss though.
I saw your game last night on one of the other screens, every time I looked, Florida was hitting another wide open 3 like it was practice.

Yeah for whatever reason they insisted upon help/over-pursuit on the ball carrier and just leaving guys open. I kept thinking they were going adjust and they just didn't. Like why did they bring in Melendez if they didn't want him putting up 3s? I mean we did a good job trying to give Hubbard no where to drive, but he's gotta become more of a playmaker in those instances. They just seemed out of sorts is all.

To be fair they're 5-6 in the SEC which is respectable, but I expected a bit more. They have some dudes over there still so they could still turn it around.

Clemson is definitely a FF team if the games were all played in Little John. They’re tough to beat there, although, somehow Memphis did it. Weird.
Here is college basketball in a nutshell for you...UK wins at Miss St, Miss St wins at Memphis, Memphis wins at Clemson, Clemson beats UK (albeit at Clemson).

Crazy stuff.

They've lost 6 of their last 9 and aren't favored in any of their next 4 matchups. I'm losing a lot of confidence in them. I'd be okay seeing Mississippi State as an 8 or 9 seed in Duke's region.

Or Kentucky beats Duke, Duke beats Louisville, Louisville beats Clemson, Clemson beats Kentucky, Kentucky beats Louisville.

Their defense is a shit show and their offense is completely disconnected, just a bunch of guys doing their own thing.

Really crazy Clemson is going to finish right up around the top 10 but yet be a 6 or 7 seed. That is pretty wreckless

Duke lost Maliq Brown for the season that is a devastating blow
Where are you seeing that he is out for the season? Last I saw was he was out for their next game and they will reassess next week. It does suck losing him. But not sure I would call it a devastating blow. Especially with the development of Ngongba.

he is the leader of the team basically

Did something come out saying that it's for the season? Last I heard it was a dislocated shoulder and they would know more on the timeline next week. I'm hopeful it's not season ending but I won't be surprised if it is.

I guess I misread, but Scheyer made it sound like they weren't hopeful

I think he's a very important piece. Devastating might be a little strong, but Duke is definitely stronger with his defense on the floor. He's not called on to score much but he does a lot of things that do not show up in the boxscore.

He's definitely a tone setter on defense. And I am not acting like his presence won't be missed. But Duke's roster is good enough to survive not having him. He does a lot, but not enough to be irreplaceable.

I'm hearing Caleb Foster and Seth Trimble will be entering the transfer portal at the close of the season. Not surprising about Foster, given his role being reduced (and his confidence), but I would've thought Trimble would stick around for another year where he'd likely be a 15+ ppg scorer.

Trimble just seeing what we can get NIL wise? I am sure Duke can
pay to keep him if they want to enough

Possibly. He entered last year - so maybe he's just looking for leverage. Just seems like it would be weird to do that two years in a row.

I'm not sure Duke wants to keep Foster, tbh.
