We have a couple of those guys, but they got into foul trouble as soon as they stepped off the bus.
If they hit their free throws and at least tried to rebound a little in the first half, they win easily.
But UK did miss a ton of wide open shots at the rim and outside the arch.
The inconsistency is the worst part. Never know what will be a foul.
And often times the fouls called are away from the action with know real impact, whereas the whistle is swallowed when a guy is hacked on a drive.
You’re a good poster Jeff, but yesterday you posted that Kentucky has a great offense and that is definitely true against the horrible teams you’ve played outside of Duke and Clemson. Against those two you’ve scored 77 and 66. I think you guys are a really solid team, just not as good as the media has been saying locally (especially KSR).
With that said, our crippled squad will not have a shot against you guys.
Well in the two games UK has played against high major teams, they beat Duke on a neutral floor, and lost a super close road game against a top 25 team (or soon to be top 25). I would take those results in a heartbeat. Will be curious to see how they respond against Gonzaga on Saturday.
If UK had gotten blown out against Clemson (again, the team's first road game in a very hostile environment against a very solid team, won't be shocked at all if Duke or UNC lose there as well later this year), I would be concerned. But that didn't happen.
Nothing has happened thus far that would lead me to believe that this isn't a good UK team. Can something? Sure. But from what I am seen thusfar, no reason to think UK cannot be a second weekend/potential FF team.
I mean, I think that's kind of unfair to say. The metrics factor in level of competition. UK threw in a stinker last night and Clemson had a lot to do with that.
But, what happens if UK goes and puts 80 or 90 on Gonzaga?
Thing is, everyone is playing cupcakes and they aren't putting 123 and 107 on the board, UK did.
We better start shooting like we are capable of if we want to put up 80 on Gonzaga. The three point shooting has been the biggest disappointment lately. Below 30 percent three games in a row shooting 25 plus a game.

They need to find better ways to free up the good 3 point shooters. Also need to stop running the ****in offense through Williams at the top of the key. He is awful. I get that it's a big part of what Pope wants to do offensively, but it's not working. He isn't skilled enough to put the ball on the floor or make the right decisions with the ball. The majority of the time it's going to get thrown away or stolen. He brings the ball up the court himself when he gets a board too. STOP LETTING HIM DO THAT! Get it to the guards and let them run. There are other ways to utilize your bigs up top to spread the floor and open up the paint. Have them setting screens, run a pick and roll every now and then. If you are dead set on running your offense through a big at least use Carr, he has some actual skills and can knock down a 3. Everyone knows Williams isn't a threat to shoot it from there so they can just sag off him defensively and get in passing lanes or clog the paint.
It's just tough to drive against a zone when the zebras allow 2-3 guys to slap at your wrists or let the D forearm check you out of bounds on the baseline each time you try. Players get exhausted trying to force it after a while and just end up chucking 3s bc honestly, at that point, it's probably more efficient that way.
OOC Road games=death, and trust me it's much worse for us non-blue bloods.
MP needs to find a way to get Brea and Jaxson open looks. You can't bring Brea in and not play him like he did last night.
Yeah, Clemson was all over him, but there are so many things you can do to free him up. Elevator door screens, high ball screens, pick-n-rolls, drive and kick… something.
But yeah, Oweh, Carr and Butler should be hitting those open shots.
Should be hitting free throws too.
I find it hard to believe that a guy can get 20 rebounds, play that physical and not pick up a single foul. Schieffelin played 36 minutes… zero fouls. How is that even possible?
I'm not saying the refs are to blame, I saw bad calls both ways and the whistles killed momentum on both teams, but their best guy got to go hard for 36 minutes, Lamont Butler only got to play 19 minutes. Without Butler, UK is kinda screwed.
Come to the SEC bud..
That would be ideal. They have to fire this ridiculously awful staff first though.
They are bad. They have been bad for the most part since Hubert took over, because he has no clue what the hell he is doing.
KU definitely getting knocked down a peg tonight. Look like the awful team last year. Same issues they had on the road last year is showing up again. Just don’t have a guy who can go get a bucket to stop a run. Bad PnR defense leading to a scrambling defense and open 3s.
KU was pre season #1 for a reason. They have dudes, I just think it's really hard to beat good teams… heck, any teams, on the road.
