300 win club

Auburn has 13 NCAA Tournament wins... all-time, of course. I think that deserves some attention, right?

As far as title game appearances go, one thing you gotta say is college basketball has nice parity. I mean, not a single program went to the championship more than twice this decade. Has a much different feel than college football. Bama/Clemson have had a stranglehold over CFB for some time.

Title Game Appearances this past decade
2:
Duke- 2010, 2015
Butler- 2010, 2011
UConn- 2011, 2014
Kentucky- 2012, 2014
Michigan- 2013, 2018
Villanova- 2016, 2018
UNC- 2016, 2017

1:
Kansas- 2012
Louisville- 2013
Wisconsin- 2015
Gonzaga- 2017
Virginia- 2019
Texas Tech- 2019

With 20 total title game slots available in a decade, we saw 13 different teams. The previous decade we actually saw 15 different teams, with only 4 teams making it to the NC more than once.

2000-2009
3:
Florida- 2000, 2006, 2007

2:
Michigan State- 2000, 2009
UNC- 2005, 2009
Kansas- 2003, 2008

1:
Duke- 2001
Arizona- 2001
Maryland- 2002
Indiana- 2002
Syracuse- 2003
UConn- 2004
Georgia Tech- 2004
Illinois- 2005
UCLA- 2006
Ohio State- 2007
Memphis- 2008

I always appreciate your stats. You constantly improve the silence.

Haha nice. I'm glad you clarified. I was really interested in hearing more about the UK obsession with alliteration.
I can't speak specifically for all UK fans. They're all special in their own ways. I will say I messed up a word so miraculously I made this a Me thing and my members will move on without me messing up their motive. It wasn't malicious. Just a mistake.

I wonder what it would look like if CBB had the exact same system as CFB this decade.

2010 - 1) Kansas vs. 2) Duke
2011 - 1) Ohio State vs. 2) Kansas
2012 - 1) Kentucky vs. 2) Syracuse
2013 - 1) Louisville vs. 2) Kansas
2014 - 1) Florida vs. 2) Arizona
2015 - 1) Kentucky vs. 4) Wisconsin and 2) Villanova vs. 3) Duke
2016 - 1) Kansas vs. 4) Oregon and 2) North Carolina vs. 3) Virginia
2017 - 1) Villanova vs. 4) Gonzaga and 2) Kansas vs. 3) North Carolina
2018 - 1) Virginia vs. 4) Xavier and 2) Villanova vs. 3) Kansas
2019 - 1) Duke vs. 4) Gonzaga and 2) Virginia vs. 3) North Carolina

Man, there would be a TON of really good teams that would have missed out on a chance to play for the title. Could you imagine the OOC scheduling if this was a real thing?

Also, as a fan of the University of Kansas, I am 100% behind this happening ASAP!

Would be interesting. I can't imagine the amount of disdain college basketball fans would have for the ACC if they subjectively got 3 teams in the Final Four last year. I found myself rooting for LSU last week - just so I didn't have to see 2 SEC teams in the CFB playoffs.

It would be makeup for that 4 year stretch that they sent 0 teams to play for the national title.

Duke will have to win all three against:

Wofford
Brown
Boston College

UK will have to win 2 out of:

Georgia Tech
Utah
Ohio St
Louisville

It'll suck so hard to not be a member of the 300 club. :D

If UK and KU wins out, then KU has made up 1 game this past decade in the all time wins race.
Uhoh. Hope you don’t get stuck on 299
