2023-24 Pick'Em, Final Standings!!

Okay, I feel dumb for omitting the Purdue @ Wisconsin AND the Houston @ Kansas matchups. Sheesh. My bad. I think I rushed this one.
that's what happens when you put out shitty Tuesday games! Id like to see all games on Saturday if possible.

He is use to Depaul type players and a Vol type player is foreign to him, so it is an honest mistake.

true these days, but all time the top 5 DePaul players would smoke the top 5 Tennessee players.

Ancient history is the only place DePaul thrives!

I just can't think of any that I liked that much. I guess Dale Ellis, but honestly I like the pants better than him.

Tobias Harris, Allan Houston... or Peyton Manning if you're going football like you did with Marshall Faulk

Top rated Saturday games on KenPom

1. Tennessee at Kentucky
2. Iowa St at Baylor
3. UConn at St. John's
4. Houston at Kansas (
5. Colorado at Utah
6. Duke at UNC
7. Florida at Texas A&M
8. Auburn at Ole Miss
9. Cincinnati at Texas Tech
10. Saint Mary's at Gonzaga

I like to include games where everyone isn't picking the same team. Don't think we'd see a lot of variation with Duke/UNC, seeing how UNC is at home, so I'm okay leaving that one out. Iowa State @ Baylor is the #2 game. Iowa State could win, but I'd also beat most everyone would pick Baylor... not the best Saturday of game, truthfully. But, I really should have included Houston/Kansas.

I don't agree with your first sentence and Ancient history resides comfortable in Lexington too. They build the subdivision.

Were those people there during the 50's? Were they 6 ft tall back then?

Throw Grant Williams at small ball center, ala Chuck Hayes.

Yeah, I was a little surprised. There are 4 top 10 matchups this weekend and only one of them made the list.

I dropped the ball on this one. I never intended to have the Duke @ UNC on Pick'Em just because UNC looks slightly better, and at home I don't think you'd have too many picking Duke. But, the Purdue/Wisconsin and Houston/Kansas matchups definitely should have been included. I think I rushed this one a bit, and I'll be sure to pump the brakes next time.

Well, I already lost my 5 and 1 picks, sooo I'm a fan if you want to wipe this weeks slate clean and do 6 new games.😃

Do most posters not like Tuesday games? Tuesday is probably the best day for matchups, outside of Saturday. But, I can appreciate if it's hard to get picks in by then.
If you can post the games on Sunday, I'm good. I suck anyway so don't leave out the good games. Most of the best games are on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

I guess when you post the games on Monday, some might not be here. so they don't see it and by the time they log on Tuesday night to watch the games. it's too late for the #6 pick. (even it's 2-0)

2 days' notice is fair.

I posted last week late Saturday night/Sunday morning because I wanted to allow sufficient time for 3 games on Tuesday.

I'll say 48+ hours before any game should be a general guideline to follow going forward. So, a Tuesday game at 7 pm would necessitate me posting by Sunday evening at the latest.

What do others think?

Just spitballing. Something else to think about is you used to always have the results and next games in one post.

This past week you released the games early and then had the results in a 2nd post.

If you continue to do that, you can include Sunday games in the results, and doesn't affect next week's games.

i hate them. Like to spend a few days thinking about the games before having to make picks.

When are we dropping the lowest score? I had some zeroes. curious to see where I stand after that. We still have a double point coming up.

Is there just one round of dropping the lowest scores?

I don't think we should this year. #IAmMrConsistency

@dukedevilz we all appreciate you doing this.

But the top rated isn’t always an equivalent of closest games. His “fan match” takes into consideration the strength of teams and even some style stuff.

You could have a game between two mid majors that might be a 2-3 point predicted margin not be in the top 10. Plus we might have more diversity of picks if it’s not teams we are as familiar with.

To me it’s less about the time to make picks and more about the time to watch games. Having a pick in a game makes it more fun to watch. If there are more than 1-2 Tuesday games it’s impossible to watch them all. Especially if one is 1030 eastern time.

Having games spread out in the Noon/early afternoon/evening on Saturday, plus like 1 on Tuesday and 1 on Thursday makes it easier to watch them all or most.

No, no... It's just me.
I grind M/Ts (two jobs and we're currently remodeling a house) and usually don't get home to catch games until 7ish.

I love Big Mondays and Super Tuesdays, best games outside of Sats. I just suck at getting here in time. 🫠

This is true. My ideal matchup is a game that is relatively close to 50-50. Don't like to see uniformity in picks. But, I don't just want a 50-50 matchup. I'd like it to be two very competitive teams, likely two teams that will play in the tournament. So while Duke/UNC may feature two of the better programs, UNC is ahead of Duke in all of the metrics - and UNC playing at home made that matchup more of a 70-30 contest.

Watching the Pick'Em games can be fun. I'll see if I can spread them out a bit.

I'm guessing several folks aren't crazy about the Mountain West matchups. I'm a big believer in top 50 games, and MWC has 5 top 50 teams - and Nevada is right on the cusp, too. So, I'll likely continue to have MWC games. But, I'll look into making more of those weekend games.

I'd recommend subscribing to The Draftmatic YouTube channel. Dude uploads close to 100 games a week. Insane. The Pick'Em contest of San Diego State/Colorado State was included, for example.

I’ll check that out. I like the MW games for what it’s worth. I just meant, if there are 4 games on Tuesday and 3 are in the 7-9pm slot, we really can’t watch all 3. Even if we are done with work in time, the best you can do is flip back and forth.

Not saying you should have to go through the effort of looking at all game times. I’m appreciative just to have this fun thing to participate in every year. Just was commenting on why loading up on Tuesday games wasn’t ideal for some.

Congrats to @ExitFlagger @BScott22 on winning Week 13 with 15 points. I also snuck in there. @boilerzz is now atop the leaderboard. Moderate scores for the week. Most missed Nebraska (which was a great finish, btw). And a decent amount of posters missed on Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Colorado State.

I think I'm going to hold myself to a 48+ hour standard for including games. So, if I don't post games by Sunday, I won't include any Tuesday games. I was kind of wanting to include a pair of Big 12 matchups on Tuesday, but we should be fine; the drop-off to the next 2 games isn't that far.

my whole season has been reduced to just trying to be a little bit better than @coryfly

That was actually a good week for me considering I only picked two games because I forget, lol. But yeah, my lows are low. The floor is the floor or something like that.

I might just pick whatever you pick the rest of the way to maintain my 4 point lead.

Lead might even be bigger. Pretty sure you have to give me strokes.

Just checked Twitter. Turns out my lead isn't legit. Evidently I only get picks right because the refs favor me and because I'm tall.

also if you're Edey that means you are also Asian and therefore smarter than the rest of us. Lots of unfair advantages. I see a big fat * coming your way if you win this thing.
