Can't remember the last time the playoffs were this wide open.

Playin games start tomorrow night with the eastern conference and then Wednesday for western conference. Second round of playin games are Thursday and Friday. PLayoffs start on Saturday.

I'm so fired up to see my guy Trae in the playoffs for the first time. The matchup vs New York could be the best series of the first round. It's not too late for you guys to jump on the Hawks bandwagon. Get on now cause we'll be moving too fast to stop and pick people up once we roll past New York and Philly!

GO HAWKS!!

Is there anyone here who isn't salivating at the prospect of Lebron getting knocked out in the play in games?

I'll be so happy to see Steph light him up and then somehow the Grizz take him down as well.

I don't think that San Antonio or Memphis can beat the Lakers, though. I could definitely see Steph lighting them up. That would be fun.

Is this play in tournament sticking around? Or is it just a pandemic/shortened schedule?

it's sticking around for good. All it did was make the last month edge of your seat exciting as opposed to watching 25 teams go through the motions waiting for either the lotter or the playoffs.

Does anyone really think the Knicks can make noise? To me they are the little engine that could. Not a serious threat to win a playoff series.

They certainly have a shot but they would have to get really hot. They’re already a solid defensive team.

There are some great first round matchups imo. I’m most excited for Hawks and Knicks. Hope DeAndre can stay healthy though.

DeAndre has looked good so far in his 3 games back. Got a lot of minutes yesterday. Trae's father posted on Twitter that the only reason Trae played last night is cause he wanted more time on the court with DeAndre. Plus they will be practicing all week. I'm expecting big things out of Hunter in the playoffs on both ends of the court. I'm sure he will draw a lot of time on Randle.

The west is more interesting than it’s been in years. Do the 7 seed Lakers stay healthy and make the finals? Do the Suns or Jazz continue their regular season success and make it. Do the Clippers click and make it?

Hell, even the 8 seed is the Warriors with Steph. Could easily get hot and make a run.

Those hoping for an early Laker exit are probably in for a disappointment.

You're probably right, but the health has to scare Laker fans a little, doesn't it? LBJ can't stay on the floor without getting hurt again, and we all know Davis could get blown on the wrong way and get hurt. Healthy, the Lakers are the favorites in the West probably.

I’m a Knicks fan, and certainly not expecting them to win the series, but they’re a legit defensive team so they’ll have a puncher’s chance. I just don’t think there’s enough firepower, though.

I've been able to catch a few Knicks games and was so happy to hear Walt Frazier announcing. His schtick of rhyming couplets may be annoying to some but I love the unconventional descriptions, "glamorous and clamorous" lmao. For a while he was the best guard in the NBA. His flashy style captured NYC and that 36 point 19 assist explosion in Game 7 of 1970 was an all time moment.

Tibs has always been a hell of a defensive coach. Instills toughness, too. Couldn’t be more happy for Randle and IQ, though.

If the Lebron is healthy in the first round, give me Clippers/Lakers in the WCF. If he’s not, then I’ll say Clippers/Suns.

For the East, I’m thinking 76ers/Bucks.

Knicks fans are always hungry.
One of the 6 great NBA cities
NY
Chicago
LA
Bay Area
Philadelphia
Boston

Plus they have the mindset that MSG is the center of the Basketball world.

Too bad they can't have fans
Obviously, Boston's history of NBA success compares favorably with any franchise, but if you go by cities producing players, Detroit and the Washington, DC-Baltimore are way better. Memphis is as well.

Talking about the NBA game itself.

Nothing at all to do with producing players.

NBA is a big city league
Some teams like Portland and San Antonio can get by because they own their city
For the most part NBA championships have been won by those 6 cities.

Fanbases are different. They are hungry for a winner.

Going to MSG in a must win game isn't ever easy

Nets/Bucks winner should take the East, possibly Miami. Heat are going to be a problem for the Bucks. West is a lot more open, especially if the Lakers aren't right.

OK, but Boston was just blessed that a brilliant organization built a dynasty in their city. Back in the '60s, even though they sucked, the Bruins in hockey were much more popular. The Celtics developed a following because capturing perennial titles instilled a devout fanbase. Everyone loves winning. Still, in producing talent, the state of Massachusetts is pretty modest: 48 players all time hail from that state, Detroit has had 67.

Also, while most of the titles have been won in the 6 cities you glorify, San Antonio has won as many titles as NYC and Philly combined.

No Philly respect coming from the great Northwest?

The King is just laughing at how its all worked out for him. Just win the play in vs a mediocre Warriors team, beat the young Suns with no size, beat the Jazz who lack a superstar plus have injury concerns and play the perennially underperforming Clippers who also don't have the size to hang and have Pandemic P who disappears under the bright lights.

The Nets are your only hope if you don't want Lebron winning another title.

I'm embarrassed to be from NC after that performance. Like WTF???

Happy for Brogdon though. Hope he gets a chance vs. the 76ers.

well that whole night was a major letdown. After that performance any chance TNT announces that Marv Albert has a sprained ankle and won't be available to do play by play the rest of the playoffs and therefore his retirement is effective immediately? he is beyond brutal these days. I don't know what was worse, his constant excuse making for Westbrook or his repeated instances of calling out the wrong player names. Nesmith is NOT Marcus Smart!

Hopefully we get a better product tonight or I should say early tomorrow morning when I wake up and watch the 2nd half of Lakers vs GSW. I don't stay up for games that start at 9 central time.

Marv is a legend. See him the same way I see Vitale, honestly. He gets a lot of negativity, but his passion and voice will be missed by the NBA

Plus he loves to party while wearing panties and biting women.

That aside, he's like Keith Jackson (CFB) for me on his voice will forever be synonymous with NBA basketball.

He is a legend and he is also completely unlistenable now. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

Part of being a legend is knowing when it's time to call it quits. Marv missed that part by a couple years.
