2021-2022 Fluoxetine College Basketball Rankings

This is what I think is going on with Kentucky: Duke is the only decent team they have played and so their rating is heavily influenced by their result against Duke; much more than the blowouts against bad competition. Thus Kentucky is jumping around as Duke does.. I ran this this morning and KY was down to like 24th. Pretty sure this is because of Duke’s loss to Ohio State and not anything Kentucky did in the meantime.

What the **** is a hampster?
It is a hamster full of pee.

Hey! Got a reply. Appreciate the response. Trust me, UK fans are not happy about or OOC scheduling. It is beyond terrible.

Even the bad teams y'all play are really really bad. I don't see how it is suppose to prepare you for the SEC or NCAA.

Yea, you won’t find any UK fans defending it.
Yeah, I was agreeing with Jimbo. Maybe, we should observe a moment of silence to commemorate us seeing eye to eye on something?

Alabama says hello....finished 5th last season and added some very good players.
I'll assume insanity on the OP's ranking.

And that’s with a game against Duke on the schedule. That is comically bad.

Cal scheduled like a pussy this year. if i was more invested and hadn’t spent most of the last 2 years bent i’d be embarrassed.

UK is currently 343th out of 358 teams in SOS.

Of course it'll change a great deal in the month of Dec.
Is that Kenpom? There isn't one set formula for SOS calculation. It's all over the place and calculated a lot of different ways. "The way I compute SOS is to average the opponents offensive and defensive ratings and to apply the pythagorean calculation to them to rank the overall schedules." That's how dorky ass Ken does it, but usually it's based mainly on opponents' winning percentage.

This one says UK is 56 and that is the lowest they have been.

According to ESPN it's 280

I think what a lot of people don't realize is that SOS doesn't (and can't) calculate quality of competition. When it's based mostly on winning percentage, a 7-0 Weber State team is just as good as a 7-0 Purdue team and 4-3 Michigan is on par with North Alabama. UK will obviously have a low SOS right now because they have played 6 (soon to be 7) mid-majors in a row since the Duke game. What do mid-majors (especially lower tier mid-majors) do at the beginning of the season? Most of them travel all over the country playing anyone, anywhere just so they can get paychecks to support their programs and get their asses stomped over and over in the process. Of course their winning percentages are going to be terrible OOC. People always freak out about SOS a month into the season though, it's almost like they don't know it will be completely different by the end of the year. Also, in Kentucky's case, they still have OOC games coming up against Notre Dame, Ohio State, Louisville, and Kansas, which will obviously pull the SOS up significantly. Rant aside, Cal needs to stop being a bitch and scheduling these damn charity cases. If you want to play mid-majors all season, that's fine, but at least play some respectable ones. It's a lose/lose situation to schedule a program that is gonna be a quad 4 at the end of the year. Doesn't matter if you win by 200, it's not going to help your resume, and will likely hurt it regardless. There is no reason for UK to every play Mt. Saint ****in' Mary's. You give him a pass on High Point this year for Tubby, and CMU for throwing Barbee a bone, but other than that he needs to play some decent mid-majors when he isn't playing P5 opponents. Once UK plays Southern in a couple days they might even drop to 358 in KenPom's SOS. 😆

But, at the end of the day UK has a schedule that includes 5 OOC P5 teams, and they aren't bottom feeder P5 teams. How many other teams have schedules like that?

As an example, which of these is a better schedule for a team's top 5 OOC opponents?
Duke, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Louisville, Kansas
or
Houston, Georgia, Providence, Iowa, Navy
or
Do we brag about who played better cupcakes?

Regarding the strength of schedule calculation, it also depends on the strength of the team actually playing the schedule. Which of these schedules is tougher?

*Numbers in parenthesis are Kenpom Adj Efficiency Margin

Schedule A - Average EM of -0.16
vs Gonzaga (31.24)
vs Purdue (29.09)
vs Arkansas Pine Bluff (-26.34)
vs Mississippi Valley St. (-34.62)

Schedule B - Average EM of -0.135
vs East Carolina (-0.03)
vs Harvard (-0.09)
vs Drexel (-0.19)
vs Bowling Green (-0.23)

It depends on who you ask, right? Let's look at it from the point of view of Baylor. Baylor would be extremely likely to go 4-0 against schedule B, while they would be underdogs in 2 games against schedule A. So for them, schedule A is definitely tougher. However, now look at it from the point of view of Chicago St. They are almost always going 0-4 against schedule B, but they would be favored in 2 games against schedule A. So for them, schedule B is definitely tougher.

Hard to complain on where Purdue is right now. They've looked terrible the last two games.

Baylor and Arizona at 1-2 looks right. Two best teams I've seen so far this season. James Akinjo and his former school.
Tommy Lloyd making a name for himself real quick. Arizona might have a hard time hanging on to him long term.

Where would he go? He can make a lot more money at Arizona than at Gonzaga. With enough success, perhaps a blue blood could steal.

I don't think MSU is the #5 team in the country right now. Fringe top 10 and still behind Purdue imo.
