You could argue the entire top 5 is SEC

SEC is strong right now but we shall see come mid March if all this translates to on the court.

The SEC will probably cannibalize one another in conference play, but that won't translate to the conference being weak.

I think Gonzaga is at 7 now, you have them moving up?
Honestly, I don't see why UK moves at all after last night's win and only losing to Clemson by 4.

I could definitely see ky staying put. With like 6 of the top ten losing, there’s a lot ways it could shake out.

In no world can you put duke above UK...
I see them do it all the time. They shouldn't in this case, but I would not be stunned if they nudged duke ahead.

They have some good wins. We can't forget about the win at Arizona, plus they won last night at Louisville.

I'll be interested to see where they put UK, KU, Duke and Gonzaga.

I don't think it works out mathematically to rank every team above every team they beat.
Correct approach, which is why you look at the entire resume.

Kentucky has a better resume then Duke (including factoring in head to head win), thus should be ranked ahead of Duke. And I am not saying you disagree with this, was just using your post to make an overall comment.

But that doesn’t count 😀
Of course it counts. Why wouldn't it?

As an aside, Louisville probably beats Duke if they have one or two of their guys playing that are hurt.

Duke won solely because UL ran outta gas. UL was playing, what, 6-7 guys the entire game?

Clemson has one good win on their schedule, a home win against Kentucky. Their one loss isn’t very good, either.

Kentucky has a neutral win vs Duke and a road win over Gonzaga.

Are you guys truly this ******ed or just trying to act funny?

No.. they're truly that stupid.

And Gonzaga beats UK if they make more shots and score more points.

Whats your point?

Yikes, that's an awful comparison.

The point is UL ran outta gas b/c they only have the luxury of playing 6-7 guys due to injuries. If the have closer to a full roster at their disposal, my guess is we are looking at another Duke loss. It is OK to admit that, ya know.

Gonzaga had a full roster (at least in my understanding).

That is the point.

Duke led Kentucky for almost the whole game, it was Duke’s freshmen led teams 3rd game. Gonzaga blew a lead because they lost focus. Duke has two losses, both to top 10 teams and Kentucky lost to an unranked Clemson team. Kentucky fans are educated on college basketball when it doesn’t involve their team, the goggles are blinding.

Interesting take.

I thought Pope coached circles around Scheyer in the second half. It was nice watching UK pick Duke apart on backdoor cuts in the second half. Scheyer looked clueless on the sideline.

As for Gonzaga, I could just as easily say UK came out with no focus at all in the first half, and played with absolutely no energy, leading to Gonzaga's big lead. But that would be a disingenuous take, as Gonzaga was well prepared and clicking on all cylinders. Nice to have a coach in Pope who can actually make halftime adjustments. Super impressive considering UKs starting PG didn't play, and his backup got hurt early in the second half.

I think most would agree that Duke has the best win between the two, and Kentucky the worst loss. Yes?

What’s Kenpom say?
I don't know. I think beating Duke at a neutral site and Gonzaga in Seattle outweigh beating Auburn at home.

Just like there is no shame losing to UK and KU at neutral sites, there is no shame in losing at Clemson (who I would assume will be top 20 after today's poll is released). Heck, won't be surprising to me if Clemson beats Duke at home this year.

Kentucky has a good team, just not as good as some of their fans are claiming. I will change my original prediction and have them 6-8 in the SEC.

You know you're on top when people can't control their hate. They want to do everytning they can to knock you down.
If Butthole state had UK's resume, they would have a completely different take.
Yeah, UK lost a true road game to Clemson by 4. I'm not sure Clemson will lose a home game all season.
UK just went to Gonzaga and beat them without, by far, their best point guard and best defender. They looked like ass in the first half, which shouldn't shock anyone, again, they didn't have Lamont Butler.
Who else wins that game without their best guard?
Need I remind you, Gonzaga beat Baylor by 40.
Seeing people in here trying to make excuses for why UK won games, is pretty pathetic. Pope coached UK to victories in both those games, he made all the adjustments and figured out ways to win.
Take Harris off KU, take Proctor off duke, take RJ Davis off UNC, take Baker-Mazara off Auburn, or take Ziegler off UT and see if they win that Gonzaga game.
Again, you know you're on top when fans from other programs post comments like what we're seeing in this thread.

The issue here is, that’s what you want it to be. You hate UK so much that you let that hate make your decisions for you.

What 7 SEC teams do you have in front of UK? I'm guessing Auburn, UT and Florida are 3 of them, who are the other 4?

Kenpom has Gonzaga at 4, UK at 10 and Clemson at 18.
Check Clemson's home record. Is it surprising that the 10th rated team would lose a true road game at the 18th rated team on their home court?
The #1 team just got beat by a bottom feeder SEC team, they were down by 24, lost by 10 (I believe). This after getting housed at mid-major Creighton. Yeah, winning on the road is really hard.

Kenpom is useless until late January.
