Pick the most hated team this year and not necessarily old rival. You can pick two.

I voted for UVA. I hate them but they are insignificant to everyone else. List is severely lacking.

Shouldn't Duke be included? The Coach K farewell tour slobfest makes ESPN even more unwatchable than normal.
I could only put so many in the poll. I tried to cover all the conferences. You know it's unbiased by the fact there is no bama on the list.

Uh, how do you not include Duke? We are the most hated team just about EVERY year. That's why so many people watch our games... because they want us to lose:)

Uhhh...? So for the ACC, you went with VIRGINIA?
You’re asking a question with the answer staring you in the face. You know that JMOSSY character is as shady as they come. J/k

I literally do not know a single person alive who isn't an IU fan who "hates" Purdue. Illini fans might be biased, as we both hate Indiana, but even the Iowa/Wisconsin/MSU/etc. fans I know have more of a healthy respect for Purdue.

I don't know if it's because some IU fans tend to be so baselessly arrogant and PU fans look chill in comparison or because Painter seems like a nice guy or because they play in that likable, old rickety arena, but I have never found them easy to dislike.

As for the answer, I would have to say it's almost always Duke. I used to dislike Kentucky more, but I have come to realize anecdotally that a lot of their fans actually seem to be from Kentucky itself, and their large fan base is more of a product of an absurdly high portion of the state's residents both being college basketball fans and UK fans, specifically. Obviously, they have their bandwagon fans across the country, but I have not found their numbers in this regard to be as high as Duke ... and EVERYONE hates teams like this (see Notre Dame football).

EDIT: Upon reflection and thinking through this in the context of this board, I am definitely going to say Auburn. 😆 I have never seen a program get good out of nowhere and their fans immediately act like they're royalty, LMAO. Plus, Bruce Pearl is a fat, slimy scumbag.

Imagine hating an entire team based on the moral character of one shitty fan

Or is this your way of flirting with me?
It was joking and that is why I put (j/k) . You are not a shitty fan and I like you.

you been a way a long time and maybe you haven't heard, but Bruce Pearl ain't no shoe shine boy no more. He looks like he lost a bunch of weight and has been one of the most impressive coaches of the last few years.

And he'll always be in my good book for what he did to Illinois 30 something years ago when he was an Iowa assistant. you know of what I speak.

How tf does this UK team have 8 votes? This is one of Cal's more likeable teams imo. Only one kind of annoying is Wheeler. Are those votes just hating UK in general or actually hating this specific team?

Duke basketball and Notre Dame football are the only teams that literally every non-fan I’ve ever met hates. After that, it comes down to who’s on the team at the moment, rivalries, the current coach, the conference standings, etc. Iowa was for sure my most hated team just last year, and now they’re like fourth, lol. For most fans, this shit fluctuates.

Side note, the people who hate their ~rivals~ so much that they won’t even root for them when it helps their teams win a conference title are weird nerds and need to readjust their priorities.

Well, the fans were pretty damn obnoxious when Beard rolled into town. That and I just heard them singing along with "I Want it that Way."
Do you not understand what went down with Beard leaving like that? Dude tried to go scorched earth on the program behind the scenes. Legal action almost came into play from some of that cocksuckers BS.

No Duke or Kansas?

If it makes you feel better I will always hate Virginia.

Why were Kansas fans so obnoxious about Roy leaving? Yeah not sure about the arena DJ. They also played that song from the Titanic but the recorder version.

Were you around a lot of KU fans when Roy left? I highly doubt they would have treated Roy like that if North Carolina had come to AFH.

But I think the portion of the fanbase that was enraged about Roy was silly. He had already turned down his alma mater and his family once. Hard to do it again.

Did Roy steal computers? Delete all recruiting and practice data on computers? Negative recruit? Leave his assistant as a spy on the program? Call up your boosters to help him in North Carolina? Request a giant bobble head of himself be paid for by the Athletic Department only to leave before it arrived?

The life size bobble head thing is a little, uh......weird. Also doesn't even look like him.

As for Roy, you're the one who made the comparison.

Disliking a team is different than disliking a peson that cheers for that team....SOme of my better friends are Purdue fans, and alum...One of my best fishing buddies is a Purdue grad...

As for IU fans suck----or Purdue fans suck----Meh, not really. Sure there are a ton of shit heads. But for the most part, I"ve rarely MET a Purdue fan that I didn't "like"----And by meet, I mean have a conversation with-----Not the ****ing loud nouth, ass clown constantly yelling, etc, etc...

I dislike Purdue because, well, they are Purdue----I'm an Indiana fan. I respect the shit out of the program, ging back to the days of Keady. I think Painter is one of the nicest dudes on the planet....And a heck of a coach. WHo has always sopken highly of Indiana...

Its a rivalry----but some take it personal. Not me. I like to give PU fans shit, take jabs, etc, etc....But at the end of the day, Purdue fans are no different than me---other than the fact they root for Purdue, and I root for Indiana...

Its just a game...

This is 5 years after he left.

"If we lose this game, then one, single man will never have inflicted so much pain on me as Roy Williams," said Barker, who wore a "Believe In Self" T-shirt and didn't even bother packing his "Benedict Williams" shirt, the likes of which were so popular back in 2003.

He took the better job.

I don’t know what the point is. I guess it makes Tech fans less obnoxious if there were some angry KU fans almost 20 yrs ago? I doubt even that portion of fans would have waited for his bus to arrive to hurl f-bombs and middle fingers at him. I know, I know….computers and bobble heads.

It’s also worth noting that Roy was there for 15 years. Beard for 5. And was coming off two mediocre years. He hadn’t proven himself to the extent that Roy had and he never will.

It looks like AUHOOSIERS had put us in the lead
Yeah, pretty much. The funny thing is I've always liked Auburn.(bama common enemy) hoosier has the mistaken belief that making everyone despise you is some how building street creds. Successful people generally are use to success and therefore it's not a big deal. Clearly he is not a very successful person and tries to elevate his status based on what a basketball team achieves.

I would write a check for $1000 and be grinning ear to ear if UT had had the "kick 6" against bama instead of Auburn, but I enjoyed Auburn doing it too.

KU fans were mad at Roy for leaving for his school that was in a completely different conference and Roy also didn't torch the place on the way out.

The fans were camping out to get into the game not waiting for the bus.

"It's like when Bear Bryant left Texas A&M for Alabama," Beard said Saturday at a campus news conference. "He said, 'When momma calls, you've gotta go home.' Texas Tech is my momma and I'm home. I'm so glad to be here." Then he cried.
