Why is Pearl on the list? If he wins the title it’s just icing on the cake.
We’ve been told that he has the dominant team in the field. And he is in his 60s, after all. Could be now or never. Title or bust!

It has to be Cal. If you get that much talent, you should win a title every six to eight years
In all seriousness, it’s pretty sad that K and Calipari combine for zero final fours since 2015. Two HOF coaches who can get virtually any player they want. If a few of those teams needed a vet or two, that’s on them. They certainly could’ve had them.

Do you not think Self is on on their level? HOF, Blue blood coach etc.

He's got a '18 final four, but how long has he been at KU now?

I mean Kevin Ollie has the same amount of natties as self and calipari. As arrogant as those fanbases are you would expect more

Imagine coaching for decades and having less than Ollie.
I mean if Bruce Pearl could have coached at a place where the previous coach won 3 national titles and left him a very good roster he would probably have one as well. He would maintained it also.

Pearl needs a title more than the others, even other.

It's the only chance for him to being taken seriously serious and this is his year.

As a coach, sure.

But if one guy rarely gets the players he wants and the next guy gets almost every player he wants...who should you expect more from?

So you give Self a pass for his recruiting?

He's not winning it all with his recruiting either.

"If my coach had your recruits.....we'd win it all every year". Eyeroll

Even if the NCAA trouble is partially his fault, it's still a lot to overcome. It's like going to battle with an arm tied behind his back.

I still think he should have more titles. He's also had some pretty shitty luck. Imagine if they had cancelled the 2012 tourney.

Imagine not having to imagine and knowing instead.

For the record- just my opinion- think UK was bigger favorites entering the 12 tourney then KU would have been if the 20 tourney was played..

I have to agree with this..

Yeah, crazy to think Self, Cal & K only have ONE final four since start of 2016 season- and KU got crushed that game.
I don't think it's that crazy on Self's part. The recruiting struggles have been real. They've missed on seemingly 95% of their top targets over the last several years. They did manage to put together a good '22 class. We'll see how that pans out.

A pretty dominant Nova team kept him out of the Final Four in '16. Arguably his best player of that period (Udoka) played in the tourney once in his four years. A roster that was #1 and undefeated through 10 games in '19 was decimated midseason. And of course his best shot was denied in '20.

Few is an odd one to me. I either see him never winning or winning multiple in a five year span. I also don't know if he will get a better chance to start that than this year.

Agree....Could be he gets that first one, and then all the suddden, dude goes on Jay Wright on us.

His teams the past 5=6 seasons, have certainly been good enough. This years team IMO, is gonna be a monster inthe NCAAT. Holgremn might only weigh a tad more than a pillow, but he's legit...Add Timme, and they have a very, very good f/c...Hickman starting to play well.
