UT beat Syracuse, so really UT just took care of business. The Vols should be ranked #1 in the next AP, but the season is young and ranking means little at this early stage. I think UT is a top 5-10 team, but it's anyone's guess who is tops. I think there is parity of great teams and on a given night anybody can beat anybody.
This is making for a fun year. Have you seen what teams like UF, Iowa St, and Miss st are doing? They have the ability to come out of nowhere and knock the hell out of you.
In a field of great offensive players all over the court defense will be the key. Duke's defense was key in knocking off a great Auburn team. Fortunately, the Vols are loaded with defense, so I like where we are sitting.
Auburn lost to Duke at Duke by 6 on a off night for Broome. We get Tennessee in auburn so I feel gery good about that one. I think Vols are very good but your schedule has been pretty weak.
I feel "gery" good too! Our biggest improvement this year is interior defense. I think it will be a good game and must see TV. However, I don't think you can sleep on most SEC teams, so I don't think that game will decide much.
Duke got a shit load of free throws (27) to Auburn's 12. Typical.

Auburn very well could be the best team in the country. But, I think you're underestimating how good of a defender Maliq Brown is. He forced Broome into tough positions. I think I read he was 2/7 when posting up against Brown.
Evans deserves time because he can score - and Duke often struggles to score against elite teams. But, Evans also has a lot to work on. He doesn't rebound or pass very well. Haven't seen enough to gauge his defense, but he looks very JV fighting through screens. Still, I think you gotta give him at least 15 minutes a night. He might be stealing minutes from Gillis in the future.
So Broomes performance had nothing to do with Dukes defense??

Bro. Broome missed at least 5 layups and still had 20 points.. also two goal tending overturns ended up being huge plays.
Other than losing to the Vols by 26, the Cuse lost two games by 5 pts or less to Texas 7-1 and texas tech 7-1. They have a decent team and could make the dance.
According to Bart Torvik (removing preseason bias), Syracuse is 160th, sandwiched between 3-6 Florida Gulf Coast and 3-3 Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Torvik gives them a 0.2% chance of dancing, so I guess you are right, the "could" make the dance.

I believe the NCAA is considering adopting the football rule for basketball, where a player can play in up to 33% of the team's games and still redshirt.
$1000-1500 on the lower games and $2000-3000 on the higher end games. So, maybe in the 60-65k range over that period.
You can search for "missed layup" on ESPN's play-by-play tracker. There are 4 missed layups from Broome. On two of those plays, he was guarded by Maluach and then Brown on separate plays - they had their hands up and were in good position both times. Those were not gimmes. He missed a close one in the 2nd half, but he got his own rebound and scored. And then in the final minute of the game, he took a hook shot from the ACC logo. Honestly, I don't know how that was even labeled as a miss layup... It was 12-13 feet out. At any rate, those looked like normal misses, which every team has in every game; they weren't bunnies.
And 20 points on 18 shots isn't exactly killing it. The average effective fg percentage in CBB is 50.6%, and Broome was at 44.4% against Duke... Auburn is a great team and they look like a legit contender. I just think you might be downplaying Duke's defense a bit.
Actually @Sound.Slave I've might have tried it on, but I've tried on so many hard to keep up, but that was the 1st Anal Avarter challenge.
Just wait until Duke goes to Clemson, don't be surprised if Flagg gets whistled for touch fouls while a guy in orange can play 36 minutes, get 20 rebounds, jump on dudes backs to swat balls and pick up exactly zero fouls. That’s fun ain’t it?
