The fact that he had to throw a roster together at the last minute doesn't mean it was a bad roster. It was pretty talented, with a ton of experience.
Next year's team probably has a higher ceiling but I'm not sure they have a higher floor. The most talented guy's coming off an ACL tear and they're green at a few important spots. Also, Lowe doesn't seem very efficient. Maybe he'll be more efficient with less usage in Pope's system, but who knows.
It wasnāt a bad roster by any means. It just wasnāt complete. Tons of experience in shooting but very lacking in defense, depth, and if we are just being honest.. toughness. This next group should be much more physical and hard nosed. It will be a different look but I am expecting better results and a different style of play.
The Lowe point has been a big talking point with UK fans and the general consensus, or at least hope, is that he will have much better numbers due to the help and system he has. I also think he was dinged up on his shooting hand.
You skipped the most glaring weakness, athleticism. 2025-26 will be far more athletic than this past year. That was the biggest reason they were pure ass defensively for most of the year. They also didn't have anyone that could create their own shots or get downhill in the half court. Oweh was the only real athlete on the roster.
Facts. Kinda leaned into that with my physicality comment but without a doubt we will have better athletes on the floor.
