UCLA Mega-Booster’s top choice is Pitino.

Rick Pitino, who led Kentucky and Louisville to national titles, is a top target of two influential UCLA boosters to be the school's next men's basketball coach, Forbes SportsMoney reported Friday, citing an unidentified industry source.

Casey Wasserman, a billionaire UCLA alumnus described by Forbes as being "influential" in the hiring of current Bruins football coach Chip Kelly, and high-powered entertainment lawyer John Branca, who graduated from UCLA Law School, are "going after Pitino, that's their No. 1 choice," the source told Forbes.

The whores are more prime quality out in California than the ones you find in Louisville. Think about the studs he will get there. Move over John wooden

I honestly think its a good move for UCLA if they can get it done. He's risky, but I doubt he'd be stupid enough to try his stunts at another school after what happened at Louisville. At least you know he puts a good product on the floor most years.

If this happens, Bennett needs to schedule a home and home with UCLA immediately. It'd be nice to get an easy non-conference win against a P5 school.

P12 gonna be relegated after this year. Gonna move up whatever fake conference Gonzaga is in to replace them.

Wait, are we assuming he’s not going to get hit with a multi year show cause?

But he hasn't yet. UCLA or anyone else is free to hire him. What happens if the show cause comes after he's at UCLA (or another school)?

I think he’d kill it there. He’d run the conference. He’d get any talent that wants to stay in Cali (and there’s a lot of Cali talent). The pressure isn’t as high, but there is still a lot of history with the program.

I mean.... To me, if Bruce Pearl got 3 years for his BBQ, Ricky should get a decade - essentially a death sentence for him.

Not considering the potential NCAA issues, this is a homerun hire. Perfect for the school and the coach.

I'm ignorant on this, so keep that in mind. But didn't the NCAA clear Pitino? Just seems odd that UL got sanctions....But Pitino did not. I mean isn't the Katrina thingy over? With all sanctions being handed down? If it is, then why wouldn't Pitino be punished the same time as UL?

I could be wrong, but I don’t think he has been cleared since they haven’t really done too much with the FBI probe evidence yet.

The Bowen incident coming on the heels of being on “failure to monitor” probation because your staff paid street walkers to have sex with underage kids in the school’s dorms - named after a 9/11 victim in your family -, should be enough for a show cause.

Regardless of his plausible deniability in either case, that’s not someone who should be representing a member of an esteemed not-for-profit organization such as the NCAA. /s

The hookergate is over, but the FBI stuff is still out there. Who knows what the NCAA will do about that whole mess.

But wasn't he also cleared of no wrong doing in that, as well? THought the FBI did so?

I understand what your saying, however, the NCAA will probably be looking for different stuff (ie ncaa rules being broken), then actual crimes the FBI was looking for.

But again, with the NCAA, who knows?

Just to play devils advocate...If a crime was committed by Pitino, you would think an NCAA violation was as well. JMO. Especially in this case, i.e. making payments, etc, etc..

Lol

My question would be if all that has happened would make recruiting more difficult. Kids may not care but some parents may. He can probably get enough talent though. We certainly know he can coach.

I guess I'm not explaining right. The NCAA has different rules than the FBI.

Pitino is responsible of paying a player who was ruled ineligible. Bowen couldn't play at USC due to his involvement with Pitino.
