Duke
Two games where both teams are ranked. Oklahoma vs Texas Tech and unc vs NC State.

Texas A&M vs Kentucky. Anyone worried about this one?

Duke FINALLY plays their first TRUE road game. Holy shit! @ Wake Forest. Duke typically hasn't faired well over the past few years early in the conference schedule, but this team is different. I really think that starts with the defense, which starts with Tre Jones. That, and Wake Forest sucks.

Too lazy to look up games involving two unranked teams.

Most intriguing matchups for Tuesday night, IMO:

1. UNC (11-3) at NC State (13-1)
2. Maryland (12-3) at Minnesota (12-2)
3. Oklahoma (12-2) at Texas Tech (13-1)
4. St.John's (14-1) at Villanoava (11-4)
5. Purdue (9-5) at Michigan State (13-2)
6. Alabama (10-3) at LSU (10-3)
7. Toledo (12-2) at Buffalo (13-1)
8. Tennessee (12-1) at Missouri (9-3)

OK vs. Tech should be a pretty good game. Also I will be tuning in to Nova and St. Johns.

Toledo/Buffalo has some potential as well. Good scouting game for your tournament bracket pools in March.

Q pointed out that Duke is currently #2 in both adjusted offense AND adjusted defense. That's pretty rare, and Duke has had defensive issues the last few years in particular (2015 as well, until the tournament.)

9 teams in the KenPom erea have had a top 5 offense and defense. 4 of those ended up winning the national title, including the last 3. To be fair, we should say 4 out of 8, since UNC/Illinois met in the Title Game. Can't have two national champs in one year. So, I'll take my 50% odds :)

2002- Duke: #1 Offense, #1 Defense
2003- Kentucky: #5 Offense, #4 Defense
2004- Duke: #2 Offense, #3 Defense
2005- UNC: #2 Offense, #5 Defense
2005- Illinois: #3 Offense, #4 Defense
2007- UNC: #3 Offense, #4 Defense
2008- Kansas: #2 Offense, #1 Defense
2010- Duke: #1 Offense, #5 Defense
2016- Villanova: #3 Offense, #5 Defense

2019- Duke: #2 Offense, #2 Defense

Duke's offense being rated that high is kind of a head scratcher. Considering how terrible the team has been shooting from distance outside of Jack White and at times AOC. Reddish may become a mason before he becomes a great shooter and RJ, for all he does offensively is not an efficient 3-point shooter. Those guys take a lot of those shots too. For Reddish I think he needs to be more selective in the shots he takes. While he is capable of making tough shots, those are not the ones to help you find a rhythm. He needs to be more selective IMO.

91 ppg, 20th in the nation in fg%, and 2nd in the country in rebounds. I get the head-scratching part, because, well, we don't shoot the ball very well, at least not from the perimeter. But we get a lot of transition points - and 2nd chance opportunities.

I think it's purely Zion. Guy is so insanely efficient, he likely ups the overall efficiency of the team. Then Tre with that assist/TO ratio...

Our offensive rating is being propped up by our defense.

MSU -7 @ home against Purdue, seems like a good bet. I also like Kent State -6.5 @ home against western Michigan.

A&M is 6-6 lol. Won’t be close.

Tech by 5
North Carolina by 3

I wish Vegas had less to do with college sports

Agreed. Basketball has got to be the easiest team sport to shave points. You can still play your game offensively - you just take your foot off the pedal on defense. Especially easy to shave points if you're able to collude with another teammate.

Winking

Duke making some shots, but way too many turnovers. Jack White's defense may have kept Duke in the lead in the first half. Let that sink in.

Not watching game but if Duke is depending on Jack White they must be struggling

If I’m playing Duke and the highlight is Jack White playing defense... yes.

The thing with Jack White is.. yeah, he’s a solid role player. A lot of coaches would love to have 7 and 6 type of guy. But he’s like a Typical SEC power forward.

Wake played a solid game. Didn't lay down and Duke still won by 23. This is Duke's best OAD team, hands down. I am not counting 2015 as a OAD team.
