How is Alabama allowed to play so physical on the road with no calls? I feel they are getting all the "Kentucky" treatment as I used to say. UK hasn't been getting that this year but Bama definitely has. I've noticed it almost every game I've seen em in.

Well the biggest basketball game in the state of alabam history is about to occur this Saturday
Arkansas is a completely different team right now. It is definitely not a good time to play them, because if they beat you, it's a bad loss, but the talent on that team is playing up to their potential now.
Lunerdi even has them as his 1st team out now. 😂 I doubt that is the case, but they have a chance to prove it with some tough games coming up after they play LSU.
After tonight's game, Rick Barnes officially has a losing record against UK while at UT. 11-12
He's 1-2 while at Clemson and Texas.
Also, Barnes best streak against UK is 2 games. Pope just matched that.
That's fine but I just find it weird when any team gets great whistles consistently on the road. It's like all the officials that hook them up in football have turned over to basketball now.

I don't think they match up particularly well vs us. (healthy at least) We have issues with teams that can shoot the lights out. Bama might be an issue. Holloway and Youngblood are hitting those. Holloway especially. How did Pearl let Holloway go?
Those 4 teams are good enough to beat you if you have an off night. The teams you think are meh are the ones that get you. Being the first team to get beat by South Carolina just sounds like something that would happen this season. They almost got us the first time lmao.

They had the offense against Florida last week and every other game since losing to UK.
It comes down to matchups too. They seem to just struggle against UK. Not sure why, but losing at UK shouldn't bring on that kind of comment while flashing the current 1 seeds across the screen, which showed UT on that list.
Yeah, they get LSU at home tomorrow night, can't lose that, but winning it does them no good.

Auburn plays physical like that too. I have no idea how they get away with it.
Don't even get me started on the 2019 elite 8 game.
But I love that style of plsy. I love the tenacity and physicality that they play with. I would just love to know how they get away with it, because nobody else can.
Florida was just as physical if not more than Auburn was last Saturday. Especially inside

I have no idea how UK pulled away from UT after Butler went out. That was crazy.
I really wish this team was healthy, put Jaxson, Butler and Kriisa out there and it's easily top 8. We just can't get past the injuries.
But Seth is an idiot, Tennessee will be in the sweet 16 at the very least. There is no 6, 7, or 8 seed taking them out the first weekend.
I'm not talking about just one game. If you don't match the physicality, you're going to struggle and that’s what Florida did.
The issue is, most officials don't allow other teams to play like that.
The contact Auburn and Alabama are allowed to play with, is incredible to me.
Meanwhile, UK gets called for boxing out and when Ziegler double clutches with no contact. Those are big fouls that put key players on the bench.
last year when Auburn played at bama both are starting bigs had 2 fouls each 5 minutes into the game. broome actually fouled out in the game
And I'm not surprised by that. When you play that physical, there will he games where that happens.
The issue is college officiating is eratic and inconsistent. You don't see this at the NBA level, because they're properly trained.
Heck, we think officiating in the SEC is bad, but I've seen worse in the BIG10 and BIG East. I really hope we don't get some of those refs in the NCAAT. They greatly affect games and outcomes.
nba regular season basketball is bullshit though. Especially in the last 15-20 years. They dont play hard defense and that is why its easier to officiate. In the nba playoffs there is plenty of inconsistent officiating

And yes, Pope is a superior coach to Cal at this point in their careers. No doubt whatsoever (except in Arkansas fans' minds and UL fans' minds (which is ironic because for the past 15 years UL fans said Cal couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag) oh, and Della haha).
I take nothing away from Arkansas, a team loaded with five stars, playing with max effort and intensity for the first time all year (if I was an Arky fan that would piss me off how much Cal has underacheived with this loaded roster), and beating a UK team down both its PGs and an injured Andrew Carr who contributed nothing. Congrats to Cal and Arky.
I am guessing UK fans were saying Cal was a better coach than pitino when UK beat louisville? BTW calipari is not close to the coach pitino is. He just was able to out talent him at times.
Cal owned Pitino during their head to head at UK/UL. Wasn't even a rivalry.
Here is your problem, that Cal actually coached a little, and had somewhat of a fastball.
That Cal is long gone (and has been for the past five years), and everybody knows it. He is Arky's problem now.
again Pitino is the greatest coach of all time and has like 5 plus natty's if he never left UK. If the talent is close to being equal I would take pitino everytime at any point in the last 30 years over Cal.
I don't know about greatest coach of all time, but I definitely agree he regrets leaving UK. I said in another thread that Pitino probably wins 3-5 championships if he stays at UK. But he wanted to try his hand at the NBA again. Failed miserably.
As for your second comment, fans vastly underrate Cal's coaching abilities, especially when he was at UMass and Memphis. He got each of those schools to FFs, and did not have the loaded teams he enjoyed at UK. Not even close.
For whatever reason, Cal got lazy in his last five years at UK. Whatever in game coaching ability he use to have was long gone. He was still getting loads of five star recruits, but when you are bringing your two lotto picks and best players off the bench, that tells you all you need to know about Cal.
. He also had substantially more talent at umass and memphis than anyone else in the conferences we has competing in. like by a wide margin. Put those umass and memphis teams playing a harder schedule every year and he loses a lot more. The dude is a fantastic rexruiter. Average at best coach
Well recruiting is a part of coaching. A massive part.
Cal was never an elite in game coach. But was definitely above average, especially at UMass, Memphis, and first 7/8 years at UK. Couple fantastic recruiting with above average in game coaching, and you will get lots of FFs/championship game appearance, which Cal has on his resume.
Secondly, yes, the UMass/Memphis teams probably would have had a few more losses in power conferences, but they still steamrolled through the tournament against power conference teams. So not really sure that argument works.
