The SEC is shaping up to be a tough Conference

if the Cade Phillips injury is serious you can count the Vols out of the SEC race. We will be lucky to finish .500

I didn’t even know that guy existed, was he a top 6 or 7 guy on the roster?

Everyone that talks about UT talks about Mashack, Gainey, Lanier, Milicic, Ziegler and Carr, I've not heard anyone mention Phillips. Is he actually that important to UT?

Looks like he only gets 16mpg, averages 6 and 4. Seems like UT could overcome that loss.

More of a depth issue since they've already lost Estrella for the year.

depth issue we have zero bigs left. Teams are just going to get us in foul trouble and we will have no one to put in

Agreed, he has been a pleasant surprise, but AB vol is overstating things a bit.

Might have to loosen up on some of that physicality, especially on the road. Being physical without fouling is definitely a skill that UT has perfected under Barnes, so it’ll be interesting to see if Barnes keeps his foot on the gas or let off a little.

It's normal to do that. Heck, most UK fans are biting nails trying to see if this team is going to step up the physicality and toughness to make it to the finish line without coming apart.

We knew this was going to be a transition year, but Pope has way overachieved to this point, but with the league as tough as it is, it could go to hell quickly.

I get why UT fans are discouraged, but what happened at Florida, was an anomaly, UT is still legit, that wont happen again.

I didn’t get to watch the Kentucky/Georgia game Tuesday, but after all the griping about the officiating all week, I just watched the game on on demand. Wtf was the complaining about? The refs couldn’t let the fouls go uncalled because there would’ve been a fight. I heard the flagrant shouldn’t have been called, what where the KSR guys watching that wasn’t flagrant? He grabbed him to keep him from going up! I hope Popes comments about learning the officiating rules was before he watched the game tape.

Just to test a theory I have, tell me what you see:

That was a flop, but there were calls that benefited Kentucky too. Garrison elbowed the guy in the neck and they didn’t call a flagrant? That was the whole purpose for them making above the shoulder contact flagrant. I get that some calls were iffy, but iffy both ways imo.

I actually didn't have much of a problem with the fouls called on UK. Should have there been some that the refs could have probably let the teams "play on?" Of course, but that is true in every game.

My issue was the lack of fouls called on UGA. They were incredibly physical throughout the game, and UK didn't get the same whistle. Not saying the foul calls or free throws needed to be even, but in my opinion, the refs were not calling things consistently between the two teams. One team was allowed to be ultra physical, the other was not.

Generally speaking, that is how it shakes out on the road.

Generally speaking again, refs need to do better. College refs, whether basketball or football, are trash. They interject themselves into the games way too often. Nobody is there to watch them, but they never seem to get the hint.

Look at the free throw disparity. The game wasn't being called the same on both ends and it got to a point in each half when UK had to play matador defense, because everything was a foul and UK is a finesse team, they might be the least physical team in the SEC. How was the more physical team the one that shot double the free throws?

UGA shot 38 free throws to UK's 19, something ain’t right.

It's not why UK lost, but when you are getting whistled every time you’re on defense, it takes you out of your game and of course, your key guys are now in foul trouble.

Y’all shot 28 to our 14 in Rupp…..

FT disparity itself is rarely a good indicator of lopsided officiating. There are so many more variables that go into it. Just because Team A shot X amount of free throws more than Team B, that isn't necessarily indicative of a poorly officiated game. I feel like this comes up every few weeks.
