It had to be pretty embarrassing for Davis to see him constantly shredding the defense and making layup after layup en route to a career game.
Auburn lost by one point in a final 4 game against the eventual national champion uva without our most talented player . That got drafted in the top 15 that next draft. It’s not a tough assumption to make to say we would have won had we had our most talented player playing in a game we only lost by one point
It wasn't embarrassing enough to put him on the bench and try someone else. I'm tired of hearing Davis speak. He is either lying or using extreme hyperbole and both don't really play well as a first year coach.
I watched the first of the game and UNC was just lethargic. Neither team was on fire shooting, but any 50/50 ball was going to UK, they totally out hustled UNC.
UNC looked like someone had forced them to play and even that bearded guy couldn't hit a 3.

Didn't UNC and Duke fans react differently to the recent hires?
Felt like a lot of UNC fans weren't overly thrilled with Hubert. Some were, but it seemed like most felt like it wasn't a homerun hire.
Duke fans, on the other hand, were mostly cool with Scheyer. Here's what I said in February. I wasn't over the top excited about it staying in the family, but if it were, Scheyer would have been my pick.

I agree. I like Jon and think he will be successful. To be honest, basketball is not that hard to coach. It is more about motivation and with top 10 kids who will be motivated, I think Duke will be fine.
Holtmann is who I wanted at UNC. Hubert was the last person I wanted. It just makes zero sense.

UK can compete with anybody in a full court, up and down game, it's the half court rock fights that have always been a struggle for Calipari. His offense is awful. 1985 iso crap.
Yes, that I am. I would disagree with your second sentence. I've been in an argument about how Oscar wasn't good lmao over that one. What I do understand it takes to time for a team to gel. Especially the way Cal puts them together. I was a lot like you guys at one point. Then a tragedy in my life changed my outlook on a lot of things including UK basketball. I don't see it in the same passion as I use to. I'm one of those guys that when I was younger would go up to the top of a hill just for radio reception of the game lol. A lot easier now thank goodness.
Playing the way they played against UNC was a major milestone. We'll see if they can sustain and improve. I try to see the good before the bad. Last year, it was all bad lol.
I think most people realize Hubert is not a head coach. He doesn't have the chops or the personality for it. He’s Matt Dougherty 2.0.
But Scheyer might actually end up being an extension of coach K. He appears to think the same way and I also think the weight won’t be too heavy for Scheyer.
But we'll see. He has a tough team to coach right off the bat. They’re talented, but very young.
As much as I've read about Holtmann growing up just outside Lexington, his whole family are huge UK fans, etc., I think he'll stay at OSU until Calipari retires. Who knows though.
Let him go to UNC for a few years just to get their hopes up until UK comes calling. 😎
I agree he wants UK. I would still like to get him at UNC and then see what happens.
Cal made this comment and honestly I don't know how much merit it has, But he said a lot of coaches don't want their successor to be successful.
Its seems to be true for UNC. I again thought Davis was hired to provide you more time in getting who you really want. More an interim guy to take the heat lol Your offense is so spread out after a shot is taken, its difficult for you guys to get a rebound. I guess shoot the 3's and hope for the long rebound. But rebounding was a mainstay at UNC. Tough inside. Bacot played well but he can't do it by himself. If I had been Davis, I would not have messed up that formula. 2 bigs fighting inside and 3 still available for a long rebound.
