Teams That Aren't Getting Much Love

Clemson is playing the best defense in all of college basketball right now.

5-0 after beating Alabama last night. Held Bama to 13% shooting from 3.

Wins over Miss State, Purdue, Maryland, and Alabama .

I feel like w/o pulling stats Clemson has played good D with this HC since he arrived. I don't know their talent/exp but if they have a mix of both they could end up being a tough out.

We have but this squad is the deepest Brownell’s had since he’s been at Clemson - 11 deep.

Miss St is 3-3, Purdue is a 2 loss team that just lost to Miami, Bama also 2 losses. Not sure what wins over those teams mean at this point.

Just stop - these are all quality wins. Especially in a season where teams are just lucky to get games in.

You don’t know that. It’s too early and Miami just got its azz handed to it by FGCU. Maryland looks to be a good W. I’ll give Clem credit for playing Div 1 universities this early and not the typical smaller U’s.

Usually Eric Musselman's teams are tough to defend

He is one of the better college coaches at creating positionless basketball teams.
His teams at Nevada he had players who could switch 1-5.

Doing the same at Arkansas.
I saw them as a tournament team. 6-10 seed.

I do think they are a team who can rise above the crowded middle in the SEC.
But almost all the SEC is pretty much even right now. Makes for tough basketball games.

Baylor needs one of their bigs to step up.

They can run 4 guards and Vital if need be.
But the top of the Big 12 could adjust to that.

Gillespie was the difference maker on both ends of the floor.

But most teams would get ran off the floor by those guards at Baylor IMO right now.
Especially with how Flager is playing.
 
The big 12 is better than people give it credit for. It’s a well thought of conference already.

Baylor is the best team as of now. Kansas has the greatest room for improvement and is the furtherest from its ceiling.
 
Think Texas Tech would be the one furthest from the ceiling as of right now

I don't have them as a Tier 1 team.
They are Tier 2 but could end up as a Tier 1 team because of Burnett.

Burnett gives them the ability to have a guy who can rotate all over the floor
Guy has a 6-11 wingspan.
 
Also Mcbride has played great so far so not sure what you are talking about "not with those guards". Several mock drafts even have him as a late 1st round pick now. I've never been this excited about WVU as I am this season. Last time we played Baylor we whipped them with basically the same teams. So not sure how anyone can say they are definitely the best team in the Big 12. We are so much better than last season. Baylor is only slightly better than last season, which was a great team obviously.

Can't win the Big 12 unless you are consistent

WVU more likely will lose to Oklahoma St, Oklahoma or even TCU than Baylor

1 performance against a team who didn't deserve their ranking doesn't change the fact that WVU is inconsistent.

Great team. Top 10 right now.

But you are as good as your guards play.
Those guards are very inconsistent

The guards with Baylor, Kansas and Texas are better right now

McBride is a good player but he isn't going to be on the first or even the second team in the Big 12 at the end of the year

Because of Garrett, Butler, Teague, Cunningham, Coleman and Ramey.

McBride is a good player. Not a NBA player right now
If the NBA told Butler to come back they will tell the same to McBride.

Big 12 is deep with guards.
I didn't even mention McClung
 
WV fans have thought they were the best team in the Big 12 almost every year since they joined the league. Always works out well.
 
They are getting better in terms of NBA Talent

But not enough to win the Big 12

If you are going to play Kansas..
Better have a few future NBA players on your roster.

As good as WVU has been they only have 1 NBA player in the league right now

You must hate us for some reason? The majority have never said that except for maybe one year. For once I'm actually one of the more positive WVU fans on our 247 forum this year. Many negative threads about our team, which i don't understand.

They do have more upside but Culver has impressed me this year unlike last season. He wont ever sniff the NBA but he has took his play to another level so far this season. I thought his offense was not aggressive enough last season. Tshiebwe has looked a bit worse and I don't think he will ever play in the NBA like some believe. The thing is, there are plenty of past championship teams that have had players who were barely good enough to play in the NBA. So not having a sure NBA player right now doesn't worry me.

Hard to get them both to play at a high level because they are similar in a lot of ways.
Only one of them will get the ball

But it is still competition. Oscar raised the level of Culver. Now Culver has to raised the level of Oscar.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but Kentucky is the best 1-4 team I've ever seen in my life*





*I've never actually seen a 1-4 team before because Kentucky usually doesn't suck

It just gets annoying seeing other fanbases constantly proclaiming to be the best in the league, yet the same coach wins it every single year. Other than the year his team was decimated.

Having said that, I don’t expect him to win it this year. Looks like Baylor’s to lose. But who knows. I think 5-6 teams are or will be really solid.
