***Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight Thread***

And Florida’s sent packing if TT doesn’t choke at the stripe.

Still would have been close. The 3s by Clayton Jr hurt more.

The reffing in the Big 12 vs SEC games has been interesting. Like Houston having 4 free throw attempts for the game vs Tennessee.

Damn I know players are heart broken when they get eliminated, but damn Tennessee players were emotional.

I hope not also. Our best player went down in 2019 also right before final 4. The last time we went
Chuma was sweet 16, and the gap between him and rest of that team was much smaller. This would be much more painful if he’s less than 100% Saturday

Those L's were Tough on UK fans. How about getting clipped at the buzzer in the championship game vs Villanova.

I called out of work 2 days with my off days Wed/Thur. That one hurt for a long time.
Yea as bad as the Duke and Wisconsin game was for me I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like for you guys when that shot when in st the buzzer for a title. Heartbreaking!!!

2 very good years.

Brutal loss. Most frustrating part for me was that foul called with 20 seconds left or so; Florida almost had a 10 second violation. Just a half second away from getting the ball, with a chance to win. I think UF hit 4 threes in a row. And missing the front end of two 1 and 1s is also tough to swallow. I feel for you man. Tough, tough loss.

The 2025 Final Four will be the 1st Time in KenPom history that all 4 teams featured will have a Top 10 Offense AND a Top 10 Defense. Absolute juggernauts.

From the second the bracket came out they were the only 4 teams that had a shot at the F4. Hated my bracket having all #1 seeds in teh F4, but it was the only thing that made sense. Could see the writing on the wall from the get go.

Definitely had 2008 vibes from the start.

Though, Florida had two very close victories over UConn and Texas Tech. And Houston had two close wins as well, over Gonzaga and Purdue. At any rate, I do believe we have the 4 best teams in the Final Four. It has the ingredients for a special weekend of basketball.

it's a shame the brackets are the way they are cause I feel like Auburn and Florida are clearly a level below Duke and Houston.

The clout of having SEC wins. Auburn was given the #1 overall seed. Though, I understand why. They had 16 Quad 1 wins.

I tend to agree your assessment, though. I think the winner of the Duke/Houston game will win on Monday night. But, none of these game will be easy.

makes sense that you agree with me. We've proven to be far and away the two people here who know this stuff better than anyone else. Results/stats/podium finishes don't lie.

Auburn beat Houston in Houston this season. We also only lost by 6 at Duke and it took isaiah evans having his best game of the season. This also was right after Auburn won maui and traveling back from there. You are right. "Clearly" though. Good lord

Name a better non conference win for anyone in the country then Auburn winning at Houston. It wasnt just the SEC schedule that helped the resume.

Yeah I'm more worried about a healthy Auburn team than Houston. I could be completely wrong but Houston has a great defense... Duke has a great defense and a great offense. Auburn and Florida have offenses that worry me more than Houston. All that being said, Auburn hasn't looked like the Auburn we saw most of the season.

I think any of these 4 teams can win. I wouldnt say any team is substantially ahead of another. Duke has played better lately for sure but any of the other 3 can win this thing. Auburn's defense has been great in the tourney. We still have not had a great offensive game.

Not a huge fan of the way Big 12 vs SEC games were called.

To that end if it's Houston vs SEC school bet SEC school.

Duke vs SEC school Duke probably wins.

Once the tourney starts, results from November or even the first week in March mean absolutely nothing anymore. Its been clear since the tourney started that Auburn is not playing their best ball of the season. Florida also looks vulnerable. Duke is head an shoulders above both right now. I have Houston up there as well, but admittedly did not see the Purdue game cause I was too busy wheeling broads.

i can see an arguement for Duke. you dont have a good arguement for Houston to be clearly above Auburn or Florida though.

Crazy thing to me is, Houston and Duke honestly are only a few possessions away from both being 38-0. Houston has 4 losses on the season, and 3 were in OT. They were also beating Auburn by 1 point with 2 minutes left. On the flip side of that, is they've also won a lot of close games (UCF, Kansas, Gonzaga, Purdue). There are fewer possessions with UH (360th in tempo) - and it can often be a rugged, half court contest.

All 3 of Duke's losses came in the final minute of the game.

Kentucky: Tied with 20 seconds left - Flagg turned it over and Oweh gets fouled on the other end to put UK up by 2.
Kansas: Down by 1 with under a minute left and we had 2 turnovers.
Clemson: Up by 1 with 40 seconds. Clemson makes a layup and then a few more free throws.

38-0 is bad luck. Remember the last time a team went into the final four at 38-0? 😂

Although the correct champion was crowned that year, so it worked out

Dude this is stupid. Auburn was just a few possesions from beating Duke. This after coming back from maui. 3 days before.

It was 79-72 with a minute to play. Hardly the same. We were winning, tied, and down by 1 point in the 3 losses with a minute to play. And you also lost to UF & A&M by a combined 20 points.
