Sacha Killeya-Jones to NC State?

Wish he would have stayed at UK but wish him nothing but the best. Glad he didn't go to Carolina, probably would have found a lot of success with Roy, which would leave me butthurt.

Dude would have failed out of UVA. Not like his replacement (Austin Nichols) served us any better.

No offense but when UNC backs off because of academics, you know it’s a problem. Wish him good luck.

NC State is quickly becoming Transfer U, or Nevada 2.0.

Braxton Beverly (Ohio State)
CJ Bryce, Jr (UNC-Wilmington)
Devon Daniels, So (Utah)
Torin Dorn, Sr (Charlotte)
Derek Funderburk, So (NW Florida State/Ohio State)
Blake Harris, So (Missouri)
Wyatt Walker, Sr (Samford)
Eric Lockett, Sr (FIU)
Sacha Killeye-Jones, Jr (Kentucky)

They're going to be pretty solid next year. They have depth and experience. I expect a top 25 team out of this bunch.

He announced NCState, then a couple hours later, a signed commit asks out of his LOI to NCState and now it’s likely they are blocking him from other ACC schools (Pitt and Miami were in his top 6). That’s sad. They take 14 guys so they had to cut one, so they tell him they dont need him anymore and now they partially block where he can go...

Keatts probably learned that from Pitino.

There's a reason he stayed in the dog-house at UK. It's not because he wasn't a decent player. Not great, but decent. Decent enough to get rotational minutes at any school in the country, but there's more to him than that.

NC State insiders said that the release of the scholarship LOI for Saddiq Bey had been brewing for a while. Keatts knows how many scholarships he has. State also received a commitment from Eric Lockett, FIU Grad Transfer, on Monday. You don't go from 12 to 14 and say, "Oops. Bad counting on my part." Keatts knew that at the start of the week that he essentially had 2 available scholarships remaining.

I believe his options were NC State and NC State. It's a shame he didn't take care of his business so he had a better opportunity but I think he will be a decent player for them.

Meh. Charlie Moore, Lawson twins, Cunliffe. That's really not a crazy amount. Nevada's entire stating 5 from the Sweet 16 included 5 transfers. They have 10 players right now that are transfers. Nevada is Transfer U - and by a wide margin.

Muss built a top 10 team off transfers and then pulled in Brown. Its impressive for this community.

Yeah but to block him from 2 of his top 6 now is dumb.

Can you repeat the last part. I'm east coast and fell asleep at Nevada.

Didn't know he had poor grades. Interesting.

Probably played a role in him not getting more minute at UK. That, and he had a tendency to get pretty mouthy on the bench, and probably in practice as well. Heard that quite a few times in the past.

Never have I heard about academics being a concern for SKJ. Obviously things couldn't have been too bad if he remained eligible all season. (Cue "Not like it's hard to stay eligible at UK. HARRRR HAR HAR"). However, let's not act like athletes are held to the same entrance standards as the "normal" student, regardless of the college. If that were the case the Duke line-up would be comprised of nothing but genius 5'6" Asians. Same goes for the classes they take.

A redshirt year will help him get his basketball and academics squared away

Do you honestly believe this?

I think it could be a part of it. The big reason is that he and Cal butted heads a lot though. Say what you want about UK's one and dones and academics, but Cal is a stickler for that stuff. He takes pride in that kind of thing.

Biggest reason is definitely SKJ's attitude though. Good player, I think he could be very solid for NC State, but he not receptive to tough coaching.

I just thought it was his defense.

Nah, his defense was pretty good at the end of the season. Cal will pull players for defensive lapses though, and SKJ didn't like being pulled. So much so, he would be very, very mouthy when he got pulled. I would say getting an attitude with your coach is a good way to not get back into the game whenever you get pulled.

He was too soft, physically and mentally. Too bad Cal couldn't cut his hands off and put them on Richards. Then they would have had a serviceable "5".

Yes, Jimbo, I certainly echo everyone's sentiments regarding your mother. Cancer is a bitch that has touched us all and will again. Has to be a cure out there. One day, man... Prayers and thoughts with you.
