Running UK Game Thread: 3/4 LSU: Senior Night

Without their top three guards, pleasantly surprised with only a 7 point halftime deficit.

Ultimately expect Bama to pull away in the second half, but was a fun first half. Refs are too whistle happy, but that is college refs in the regular season for you.

Just found out the big #22 for UK is from the UK. I was wondering why the Bama fans were chanting "USA,USA,USA".

End of rant.
He is Robin Hoods cousin, from Nottingham. :D

Cats worked hard but it is hard to over come missing our back court. The officials were really hard on Oweh. He only got to play 22 minutes before he fouled out. Holoway had 2 fouls and Sears only 1: WOW! Trent Noah got in 23 minutes. Chandler fouled out in only 13 minutes.

I think it’s hilarious that UK gets its own running games thread, along with a resume thread and we basically own the SEC is shaping up thread.

Is there any other program that can do this on a national board?

Is this why KU and UL fans troll so much? Dey mad?

Great game by Oweh...however, not much else to be happy with (other then Butler making it through the game without getting reinjured).

Defense was pitiful, Robinson doesn't seem like he will be able to provide much from here on out if he can't even make it through one game, and did I mention the defense was pitiful?

Oh well, a road win is a road win, I guess.

Also, the defense was pitiful.

I'm waiting on KP to update, we're still sitting at 61 in defensive efficiency.

This is what Pope thought about Butler's 5th foul.

I actually thought it was a legit foul. Butler moved his feet to try and stay in front but appeared to be late. Then tried to take a charge.

Not sure if we have any replays of it, but I thought it was the correct call and a stupid decision by Butler, especially when you already have four fouls with a bunch of whistle happy refs. But that is what I thought when it happened live, not sure if they showed a replay after the fact.

If UK can somehow pull off a win over AU, that would cement their 3 seed in the tourney, regardless of what happens after (assuming UK beats LSU at Rupp).

Since I don't see a win over AU happening, I would think UK would need to win at Mizzou last game of year to still have a chance at a 3 seed.

Gonna be weird as hell having actual seniors to celebrate on Senior Night.

And as a nod to Cal, they're all one-and-done seniors.
That's the beautiful irony of it. I think Pope will have his fair share of kids leave early now that he's recruiting in those circles. He'll also have guys that stick around 3 or 4 years. And if this years successful foray into the portal can be repeated because he goes after guys that fit his style a drop off next year can be avoided.

I wouldn't mind seeing him add more soph-junior transfers that have a couple years of eligibility left, like Oweh. Would be nice to have more roster continuity from year-to-year. Of course the right fit is the most important, regardless of class.

I think he went older because of the complexity of his system and their availability and willingness to come into the situation that Kentucky found itself in. He now has a resume at this level of competition that should attract some of those younger players. I mean, there isn't a stretch 4 or a passing big man in the country that doesn't look at his system and think that it would be a blast to play in.

Arm chair coaches have been preaching this approach for years.
