The last 4 have all been on 1 seeded teams and finished no worse than the Elite 8.....or didn't play :(

There have been two 2 seeds to have the NPOY in this time frame.

If Garza wins (or Dosunmu), it will mark the 4th NPOY out of the Big Ten, by far more than any other conference since 2010.

Oddly enough, only two NPOYs have led their teams to National titles. Anthony Davis of the dominant Kentucky team in 2012, and Jalen Brunson with Villanova in 2018, whom I don't even remember, outside of Villanova cruising to another title.....

Even if Garza gets it this year, the Big 10 is still behind the Big 12 in NPOY this millennium.

Clearly, Big 12 > Big 10.

Garza will be playing with hansbrough and fredette in some foreign league next year anyway.

Of course, since you opened that can of worms.........

The Big Ten and Big 12 currently both have had 6 players win the Naismith Award, while the Big 12 has 6 Wooden Award (younger of the two awards) winners to the Big Ten's 5........until the end of this season. SmokinSmile

So again........Big Ten > Big 12.

That was my first thought. RollLaugh

Fran's stomach has a camel toe.

I wont pick Iowa over Kansas, since I dont have the latter in the sweet 16. Very good chance Southern Cal will beat them, and Bill Self is known as a perennial choke artist in March anyway.

Self’s had four true chokes and went further than expected four times. He certainly hasn’t choked any more than Bennett, K or Wright in that timeframe.

But, more importantly, did you even look at the thread, you goon?

You sure only 4 times, really? 05 Bucknell, 06 Bradley, 10 Northern Iowa, 11 VCU, 14 Stanford and 15 Wichita State, I can already recall 6 times Bill Self choked as overwhelming favorites without even digging out the entire picture. There may be even more if I conduct a thorough research on this topic.
:D

And yes I know this one is about recruiting rather than a potential Iowa vs KU matchup, but my point remains valid.

3 of those involved their best players being out or limited. Wichita was the better team at that point in the season. I don’t care what they were seeded. It’s not easy to seed midmajors. Kenpom had them ranked 12 and 13, and KU was depleted in that game. KU without Embiid wasn’t close to the same team. Probably still better than Stanford, but it wasn’t a big gap.

Self is perceived to choke more often than others because he’s in a position to more often. It’s easy to meet expectations when there are none. The only coach who has consistently been seeded as highly is K, and he’s lost in the first or second round several times in that span, including to a 15 seed.

Which program has had to deal with as many injuries in March? Not talking benchwarmers here. Embiid, Azubuike twice, Perry Ellis, Keith Langford, etc.

What’s funny is that fans act as if it’s better to fail to meet expectations all season than to have a great year that ends early.

Glad this dude is getting serious looks on the CBB board like he should as an heir to what men like Aaron White and Tyler Cook and now Keegan Murray have established at Iowa under Fran: a culture of athletic above the rim bigs destined to multiple 10 day contracts in the NBA and/or a nice career jumping around to different Euro teams (based on who's solvent enough for the contracts to matter and preferably currently competing in EuroLeague).

This guy is going be a big part of Iowa's next generation of offensive high flying juggernauts who occasionally attempt halfcourt team defense:
