Yeah, probably. There are a lot of larger gyms in the country.

Play at Elon tomorrow night. I imagine the atmosphere is going to be crazy too. Roy does have the stones to do this unlike others outside of classics/pre season tournaments their true road games start when conference play rolls around.

A more competitive rivalry than UK/UL these days! Each team won on the others home court.
.... but I sure look good! LaughingI call bullshit. Everyone knows you graduated high school in the 20s.
I read somewhere that Indiana HS's have some of the largest gyms in the nation?Yeah, probably. There are a lot of larger gyms in the country.
Is it really that big of a deal to play road games against ok/bad teams? I know some of you UNC guys seem to take it more seriously than others, but I just don't see it. UNC has a tough OOC schedule, playing at Elon and Wofford seems pretty far down the list.

ok, that's great I guess I just think some of you are making a bigger deal out of it because UNC is the only team that did it this season. I mean how many people open up the season playing a top 5 team on a neutral court? not many but I don't see a lot of Duke/UK/MSU fans bragging about scheduling that game while a few UNC fans keep pounding their chest over an 11 point road win against Wofford. It's like some of you want us to give Roy Williams the Caitlyn Jenner treatment, he's so stunning and brave for playing on the road against Elon and Wofford. How many blue bloods/ top teams open the season playing true road games?
That makes sense and I too think it's cool, just think a few UNC fans are overplaying how big of a deal it is. @uncfan in ky in particular.I think it helps in conference play. Roy pretty consistently outplays the rest of the ACC on the road. I'm not sure that plays a part or not but it could. There has to be some reason.
I think it is pretty cool though. Playing on the road is tough even if the competition isn't elite. I think he believes it helps builds adversity (there are other types of adversity through other games as well of course) and we all know Roy wants to see his guys go through that.

Meh. 3400 fans seated right on top of the court screaming as loud as they can helps to prepare a team, regardless. It’s an early season snooze alarm.
It’s also a cool thing when a blueblood schedules a home and home with a “local program.” I read that Spartanburg, SC dubbed it the biggest sporting even they’ve ever had or something to that effect.
I give UNC props for going on the road to open the season at two small schools to play in their gyms. If UNC f*ked up and lost, they’d get dinged big time for it. A lot of schools won’t risk it, regardless of opponent. Shit happens in college b-ball.
Back in the day I saw both sides. UK was playing home and home's with UNC, UL, and IU. Duke was scheduling neutral site games in arenas where the Ncaat games were held. I think K was ahead of his time when it comes to OOC scheduling. This year, but I'm more referring to back in the day.
Who, again, is mad?Damn, people mad as hell that UNC has the balls to play true road games.
Meh, not impressed with bragging about Elon and/or Wofford.
But I get why you felt the need to respond.

I just see a bunch of defensive tar heels fans tbh.
Now, if they'd gone on the road to Villanova or Stanford or San Diego State, I'd agree that that's worth boasting about as a "true road game".
Are UNC and Wofford going to play for the best two out of three?
Well, we do Stanford at their place this year. I also this Wofford > Stanford. Wouldn’t be surprised if Wofford makes the tourney.Who, again, is mad?

Not bragging on the quality of the opponent. Letting you all know by playing true road games to open the season is rare by a blue blood.
I like how UK and KU has a semi home and home with a guarantee to play every year OOC.Well all the other blue bloods are prepping for that CC thing, so..
I wish they'd expand to 6 teams and keep Duke and UNC from playing (and MSU/Indiana should they choose Indy as the 6th). I get why UNC and Kansas don't schedule each other, but I wish the NCAA would kind of force their hands via CC.
I like Kansas having a tough schedule each season, too. But I could care less whether Kansas plays at UCSB or at South Dakota State or wherever.
Good for those schools' athletic budgets, but I don't think it really helps prep for much.
And it doesn't take "stones" to play at Elon. at Wofford.
Lawd.
I don’t think I was bragging about either. But i have some insight into the wofford game that you don’t have. An educated perspective that clearly went over your head.
You can go back to selling jewelry on Facebook now.
it helped at least 5 times which is more than any coach not named Wooden.Yeah, I get that line of thinking. I'm not sure it helped many years though. You have to get to those arenas first.

I don't think discussing its relevance (our opinion of it at least) is necessarily being defensive here.

This thread has been fun.
If ol' Billy Rustled would buy some of that-there fandangled jewelry on the Facebooks, it'd be much appreciated. I needs the funds to bye Chrismus presence for my 11teen toddlers.
Yea , I am going to the Elon game tomorrow night. UNC basketball in a 6,000 seat gym is always good with me.I loved watching the Heels in that environment. Wofford has a beautiful arena.

? I'm on Twitter, Bill.
Because you have Wofford friends you're educated?
I never even said you were bragging. Lemme guess, an AFAM grad?
Might want to try school again if you're gonna brag about the smarts, educated man.

Yeah I'm sure if Duke had played Wofford on the road in 2012 and 2014 they would have won the title. It's just enjoyable to watch- nothing more, nothing less. I would rather watch Carolina play a tough game on the road pre-conference than I would watch them play a cupcake at the DES.
As far as is it a big deal- I guess it depends on how much you dislike losing to ok/bad teams in the first round of the NCAA tourney when your team is a 2 or 3 seed.
Yeah I'm sure if Duke had played Wofford on the road in 2012 and 2014 they would have won the title.
Its UNC fans, if Roy came out and said he liked to kick babies. UNC fans would be talking about how K or whatever coach has no honor because they dont kick babies. Is it really that big of a deal to play road games against ok/bad teams? You seem like a bright, stable individual. Its UNC fans, if Roy came out and said he liked to kick babies. UNC fans would be talking about how K or whatever coach has no honor because they dont kick babies.
Hell remember a couple of years ago when they were pimping Roy because he never offers kids till the end of their Jr year. How Roy had integrity for doing that and they would never support a coach that offered a scholarship before then.
