OT: I’m eating a pasty right now and am wondering how many of know what these are

I've seen them offered in places out in DFW but I've never tried one. Restaurants/bakeries certainly won't make and sell them in smaller towns around here.

They look delicious.
 
When my mom visits from the U.P. She brings down some bomb pasties from a bakery up there. Unfroze one last night.

Nice, I bought one at the grocery store last weekend here in town. Pasty was from Stella's Pasty Shop. Somewhere in WI.

When I lived in the lower part of Michigan I saw some at Meijer. Figured I’d try one. It was such a knock off from the pasties I’m used to that I didn’t even finish it.
 
They are definitely not empanadas.
Empanadas are different depending on where they come from. My mother is a Colombian and the Empanadas are half moon shaped meat pies.

They're similar in that they're both food stuffed inside of a shell, but definitley different. Both are good eats.

Yeah, there's a place on the mitten side of the Mackinac Bridge that sells them. They're well-known for them, anyway.
