***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

The last time the entirety of the B1G was in the top 100 of KenPom was 2019. We've got a chance to have it happen again, which is wild as we now have 18 teams vs 14 that year. You'd think at least one B1G would suck profusely every year but not this season.

The B1G as a whole has zero NET Q4 losses and just 8 Q3 losses. Rutgers and Minnesota are the only teams with 2.

KenPom ranks:

8 Purdue

12 Wisconsin
15 Illinois

19 Maryland
22 Michigan
23 MSU
26 UCLA
28 OSU

36 Nebraska
37 Oregon

53 Indiana
56 USC
58 NW

62 Iowa

72 Rutgers
73 PSU

92 Minnesota
95 Washington

8 of the top 28 teams in both the NET and KenPom are B1G teams. We may not have a legit title contender but there is more depth at the top than in some time.

Top 30 KenPom teams by year:

2025 8
2024 5
2023 4
2022 3
2021 6
2020 11 (The COVID year has questionable statistical relevance because we didn't have the out of conference depth if interplay)
2019 5
2018 5
2017 3
2016 5

Only 2021 (6/14 vs 8/18 is close) compares in the last decade.

Iowa at 62 is a f***ing joke. If the "metrics" say we're one of the 62 best teams in the country, and a team like Drake is only 2 spots better, then ole Kenny Pom Poms needs to ride off into the sunset.

Hey @Sparty_57, thoughts on how MSU does in the stretch run? I thought our closing schedule was brutal but damn, yours is insane (except Iowa of course):

@ Illinois
Purdue
@ Michigan
@ Maryland
Wisconsin

It's all about the schedule. Believe it or not, you have 6 Q1/Q2 wins. Drake only has 3. Drake also has 2 losses that are considerably worse than Iowa's worst loss.

Sounds reasonable. That would put you are 14-6. I could see Purdue going anywhere from 5-1 to 2-4

Wisconsin
@ MSU
@ Indiana
UCLA
Rutgers
@ Illinois

4-2 sounds about right for the Boilermakers
I think that's most likely. That's why it's frustrating that we couldn't pull it out at Michigan. They would need to go no better than 4-3 against this schedule for us to grab a share of the title.

At least we don't have Bama's remaining schedule:

5-2 would be great.

When Izzo retires, the Spartans need to find an Oats-type coach. Oats coached high school basketball in Michigan for 11 years before Bobby Hurley hired him at Buffalo.

MD didn’t choke!!

Also was in self-denial - DQ def to the draft after this season.
Pinnacle Bank is one of the hardest places to win in the B1G. And Nebraska has a couple of studs in Williams and Gary. They just have a lot of mediocre to go with them or they wouldn't be on the bubble. I think they get in but they can't afford to trip up down the stretch.

I have no issue with an alternative uniform game for Indiana. They raise awareness, money for good causes and sell a lot of merch, but tonight is not the night.

They need to get rid of those Harlem Globetrotters wanna be warmups.
Never

Is ND going away from gold helmets?
NYY trashing the pin stripes?
Mich offing whatever the fvck that is on their helmets?

Iconic is iconic dude...hell how many fanbases have copied the candy stripes...all?

Of the four players, two are from Rutgers, which is weird.

The Rutgers two make zero sense.
Yeah, I feel like both lists are more hype driven than production. I think Goldin has been more consistently good than Wolf. And I'd take Brice Williams over a few of those guys based on production. Dylan Harper went a month where he missed 3 games and average 9 points in the other 6.
