***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

Obsession and hypocrisy. Flexing on a player yelling at an opposing coach after sobbing about the same thing being done to them. Classy.

Watched Malik on the bench a bit yesterday. Two things I liked, he was very animated pumping up the team and two coaches sat with him and broke down what was happening visually.

Malik makes some dumb decisions and misses defensive assignments far too often. Use this time wisely.

Illinois looking like the class of the B1G right now after a west coast sweep. Michigan passes the eye test but hasn't really beaten anyone of note. Sparty looks improved but needs to do it against better teams in the B1G. UCLA's defense is the shit but I just don't know if they can score and B1G games are called differently on the road.

I will continue to argue that Oregon is the most overrated and overvalued team in the Big Ten. I think they finish 10-10 in the league at best. And Washington is going to finish 16th or 17th in the league.

Oregon has pieces but certainly has issues too. Their wins in Vegas were really impressive but they've looked mediocre since. I think they'll be a team that can pick off anyone in the B1G but also lose to Minnesota.

Could be. Tough to read oregon at this point. Some interesting wins and very interesting losses. Hopefully get to see them Thurs at Ahia and get a better feel.

Woodson say Malik not back "any time soon"

Ouch...great young man and the team needs him in BIG play.

Does it ever end for Injury U?

I'm on the Badgers ML tonight at Rutgers.

They made all them 3s against Iowa so surely that'll translate to consistent, replicatable success against everyone else they play..................congrats on your win tonight Bucky! :D

I tuned into the Ahia/Minny game with 5.6 sec left in reg with Ahia at the line.

The two teams then beat the living shit out of each other for the next 10:05.6. Playing in four second intervals between fouls. DJ Carstensen on the whistle which is always interesting. Seriously bad basketball.

More on DJ later

Officiating is ridiculous tonight. If Iowa is trying to be physical on defense, it's a foul.
From above: more on DJ Carstensen.

Officiating is hard, I know from knowing several AAU officials during my coaching days. It has only gotten tougher as the game has sped up and more technical violations are expected to be relaxed (Euro step for ex).

I try not to bitch about officiating as it tends to even out but what I do expect is consistency. We don't always see that, certainly not in a physical league like the BIG

So IU is playing PS at the Palestra and DJ is the lead guy. To my delight the teams were generally allowed to play for 32 minutes. PS is much more physical than IU but there was a really good flow to the game. IU adapted well to the flow especially after a couple of adjustments were made at the half.

At the U8 there wer six H2 fouls on the board (three each) all legit calls.

The officiating hit a light switch

By the time the 04:40 mark came there were 13 fouls called (7 IU/6 PS) most of which would be play ons in the first 32 min of the game. The flow stopped and the game became a start/stop grind. The whistles continued to the end but two or three were intentionals that color the final stats. To their credit, PS hit a couple of big shots in that timeframe which tightened the game up. IU ground out the win but the last 8 min were just ugly and the only thing that changed was the whistle.

Call it tight or loose, but for god's sake do it the same for 40 minutes.

Oregon just picked up their 6th quad 1 win today

At this rate, we should get a home game in the NIT
