***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

Is UCLA now the favorite to win the B1G? KenPom has them projected at 14-6 with the Michigan schools at 13-7 and a bunch of teams at 12-8.

Their lone loss is to a solid but not spectacular New Mexico team and their only win of consequence (Arizona is a trainwreck) is a win at Oregon (that will have staying power). Cronin has the boys playing defense but I'm curious to see how it travels in the B1G. Their offense is hit and miss.

I think Michigan and Michigan State have schedules that set up really easy. I like that UCLA projection.

As I was looking at scheduling there was something that really caught my eye about the additions of Washington and USC and how that impacts winning on the road in the Big Ten.

Any Big Ten team that can draw road games this season at Washington, at USC, and at Minnesota is suddenly WAY AHEAD of the curve with the Home/Away splits. Most top 50 teams would go 3-0 at Wash, Minnesota, and USC.

So if you protect serve at home, grab those 3 wins mentioned above, and then maybe grab one more road game, you're almost guaranteed a top half finish in the league.

Anybody more resourceful than me know where one can find the Big Ten's record thus far against all the other conferences, specifically the SEC?

TIA

Good night of Big Ten hoops coming up.
Yep. B1G hoops resumes in earnest. How's everyone feeling?

Cautiously optimistic on Purdue. Wish Colvin and/or Heide were more consistent. When they are both off, that puts a lot of burden on Smith/Loyer/TKR and that works against some teams but not against exceptional defensive teams.

Can anyone explain to me why Penn State can't even fill half their arena up for league games?

Harper out for Rutger tonight. Sick not injured.

Ace Bailey gets under the bright lights and big stage of TAH and shows what he is made of. Tremendous first half 20 pts and most of their rebounds.
Hell of a player

You have to be a Japanese sharp shooter to dominate the first half in Assembly Hall.

Bailey is the real deal. Hummel spent a lot of time comparing him to Kevin Durant. I see a bit of that

Bailey made every one of those shots with a hand in his face, no open looks from my recollection.

Gawd awful from the charity stripe though which is so very odd.

I thought his free throw line struggles were mental. Dude still isn't used to these types of crowds.

Furst had a nice game which was great to see. Easy guy to root for.

That was strange to see him miss three in a row. It was one of those “ball don’t lie” moments following a staggeringly bad call on Carlyle for a push after he got hooked. I think Ace was laughing a bit at the line the call was so bad. Kid looks a bit like a young Cassius Clay to me

No word on Malik, hopefully a bruise and not any damage. Having him out the entire game eliminated the ability to play two bigs and frankly the floor opened and the shots dropped. Movement was excellent, Ballo played hard after his time out and Rice was really solid against lesser athleticism.

They need Malik Sun as Pen St plays harder than IU does.

Unfortunately no word yet on Malik and we may not get one until Sun.

IU cannot afford to play many BIG games with a starter (on an already short big bench) and a heady rotationsl guy out.

He is likely the best point guard in the history of college basketball.
Nah, there have been better. But I think he's Purdue best PG ever and might be the best in the B1G this century. He's on pace to eclipse what Cassius Winston did and I'd consider him the reigning best PG in the B1G this century.

The Boilermakers have the potential to be exceptional next year.
