I think we were 12th.
I’d give it to Gard right now personally. No one saw this coming after losing Hepburn and Storr. I thought Michigan would be good. I watched a lot of Florida Atlantic and knew how good Goldin was.

I was a little unsure on Michigan. I thought we’d be middle of the pack.

I guess I don’t see why bringing in transfers that help that much wouldn’t be included in part of the overall coaching job for the year.

Personal opinion. Both coaches have done a great job. I think they had similar challenges to overcome. And for the record, the preseason B1G poll pegged Michigan 9th and Wisconsin 12. Both have greatly overachieved.

I'll add that despite Michigan leading the B1G, I think there is a fair amount of evidence to suggest that Wisconsin is the better team right now and has the better overall resume.

KenPom - Wisconsin 9, Michigan 22
NET - Wisconsin 12, Michigan 19
SOS - Wisconsin 27, Michigan 39
B1G SOS - Wisconsin 8, Michigan 14
Losses outside Q1 - Wisconsin 0, Michigan 3

I think taking a team that won 8 games last year to a potential conference championship is a better coaching job than taking a 5 seed to 4th place in the conference.

If you’re saying Michigan is #1 in the conference despite having a worse team that’s even more of a positive for Maye’s coaching.

I don’t see how the super relevant last season has to do with any of this trash.

What does last season have to do with this season, in this day and age? Absolutely nothing.

You are certainly entitled to that opinion. See how easy that is.

Do you think Dusty takes the job in Btown if he is offered?

Weird take. Dusty Maye taking over a Michigan program that had its lowest win total in 30 years and contending for a conference championship is all part of the picture of how well he’s done this year.

You can buy a team these days. It matters zero to this year. Not sure how that’s weird. 5-10 years ago, I’d agree. Now? No way. We had our two stars bought off last year’s team. You just go out and find another guy or three.

Storr has to be regretting it though…

It's not just about buying players but players buying in. Put that on a t shirt and raise some NIL. I feel like Dusty gets the nod being his first year and quite the jump. Gard should get one because he didn't suck as much as people had thought for a few years?

Going out and finding the right guys to build a new roster that is a championship contender is part of what should be considered in a coach of the year award.

There’s still a month left. I wouldn’t crown anyone yet.

It won’t be. And isn’t as far as the actual voting goes. That would be good for a GM of the year award. Which most teams seem to be moving towards having.

Right? If it’s just about buying players why didn’t the other 17 teams in the conference just buy Danny Wolf?

You just said they get no credit for turning dogshit into wine. Now they do?
No I said last year has no bearing on this year. You could have been 22-12 last year and lost your whole team. Each year is a new year with completely new guys. There is very little carry over anymore.

Gard should get it for simply turning Carter ****ing Gilmore into a better player than AJ Storr this year. And I want Gard fired. And you’re making me defend him with this shit.
