No Merl Code thread?

Maybe Harden and a couple other players but the defense in the NBA, especially in the playoffs is remarkable. With so much disparity in the league it’s been fun to watch. I watch a few NBA games and then go back and watch cbb (even too 1pteams) and it’s sooooo bad in comparison. I’ve been having a blast watching the Suns, Grizzlies, Jazz, Bulls, and Bucks play. Giannis is something else. Must watch tv imo. But hey, different strokes.

Of course the caliber of player is better, but that doesn't make the overall product more enjoyable. Atmosphere is huge in basketball and sports in general, and NBA crowds generally suck. The players are whiny, overpaid prima donnas who are hard to root for in a lot of cases. Much easier to root for a poor and humble 18-yr-old trying to get out of the ghetto and giving it his all for the program he dreamed of playing for. Players in the association aren't as coachable and think they're GMs. Analysts refer to them by their first names and there's always stupid drama between personnel.

There are plenty of things not to like.

Don't know how you do it... the nba blows. There are 2-3 shot happy ballhogs on every team. Iso plays time and time again while everyone else watches. Yyyyyaaaaaawwwwwn.

Don't forget about PnR action. Sometimes teams are gracious enough to involve two players.

I guess it partly makes sense why there's so much Iso and PnR - that pesky 24 second shot clock . Not a whole lot of time to develop a play. Lots of collegiate teams like to move the ball from the left side of the court to the right side (and vice-versa) - which forces a lot of defensive rotations, and usually that can lead to an open shooter. I've always enjoyed that style of play.

Best ball movement I can ever remember in the NBA was the 2014 San Antonio Spurs. They were on fire. It was like 6 ball reversals per play. Defense could never catch up.

The NBA is a great product if you like good basketball. I love college way more but there really isn't an argument for it being anywhere close to a better product.

Regular season post season give me college. When college ends, give me NBA playoffs. I'm pretty simple.

This is starting to become non existent with the rise and continuation of NIL, which is my point.
