TIL Duke isn’t a blue blood because it’s a one coach wonder. I don’t see why any coach would want to go to a one coach wonder program.

TBH, I could see Brad Stevens or Donovan. Not sure if Duke chooses to stay in house. But i would think one of those two, if not both, get a call.

John Calipari.
Dude....I mean if Cal LEFT UK, for Duke?

Oh, my Lord.

Brad Stevens isn't coming back to college. K is going to choose his successor when he finally leaves but I still think there is a basement full of K clones somewhere in Durham.

This is how I wish things would have went down for Knight. It doesn't mean he(Knight) makes the right choice; nor does it mean "K" will. BUT....I'd sure feel better about either of those picking the next coach, than an AD.....Especially ours.

IMO, Indiana basketball "died" with Knight. It died well before his firing. Had he retired, and rode off----I cannot help but think IU would be much better off.

Fun fact:

When IU hired Kelvin Sampson, the administation was torn between two, final candidates. You know who the they picked Sampson over?

John Beilein.

IU powers to be wanted to make a minority hiring. Money had some tings to do with it as well. Just goes to show you how inept our administration has been.

Damn it, JOhn.....Why couldn't you been black....or latino...:D

Laughing Cal wouldn't leave UK for Duke. He's far to irritated at that program for the bias (perceived or otherwise) and for flattering him (the best form) while being AT UK.

Jay Bilas. He's their #1 fan and resident know-it-all. He might as well take over for K.
I never understood this. Bilas is as hard on the Devils as anyone. In fact most Duke fans get after him for not being more Duke friendly. Pretty loose dig here.

BTW, Bilas already coached at Duke. He was an assistant in the early 90's.

Wow

Gotta be someone who's semi-young and can put in 20+ years. No one like Mike Brey, who will be 60 in March.

My rankings:

1. Chris Beard, Texas Tech
2. Jeff Capel, Pitt
3. Tony Bennett, UVA (would be #1, but super unlikely that he bolt for a school in the same conference)
4. Jon Scheyer, Duke Assistant
5. Nate Oats, Buffalo
6. Mike White, Florida
7. Steve Wojo, Marquette
8. Chris Mack, Louisville (similar to Tony Bennett)
9. Bobby Hurley, Arizona State
10. Kevin Keatts, NC State (yes one more ACC Coach)
11. Steve Prohm, Iowa State
12. Mick Cronin, Cincinnati

That's all you got? If you are going to make a dumb post, at least have something to back it up.
No, you're post was the one that made no sense.
How can you watch/listen to Jay Bilas and come away thinking he is not a complete Duke homer.
Look at the ridiculous rant he went on when Tre Jones wasn't listed as one of the best defenders in the country.
He pumps duke constantly. Is he going to pick some things out to make it seem like he's not a complete home? Hell yeah, but that dude is more than happy to pump the crap out of Duke, which is clearly what ESPN wants them to do.
Seth Greensburg completely threw ESPN under the bus 2 years ago when he said on air that he isn't going to cave to ESPN and pump Duke because it wasn't right.
Jay Bias and ESPN are perfect for each other. They both pump Duke.
I'm stunned that there is someone on here (you) that doesn't see how much of a homer Bilas is.
I used to love hearing his takes, but he's a different dude now.
Maybe he'll change once K's nuts aren't in his mouth.

He probably seems like a homer this year, but that's mostly because Duke is really, really good. Aside from outside shooting, what can you really say that Duke does poorly?

But in years past when we weren't as a big of a threat, he has been very critical. Check out some of these threads on the Duke Board. Most people on the DI aren't a big fan of him because he often seems to overcompensate, in the appearance of being impartial, and when he does that you'll see he frequently points out Duke's weaknesses. But this year is different because Duke is clearly one of the major contenders for the title.

Really? You think Bilas pumps up Duke? I think he isn’t afraid to compliment Duke now, but there was a time when it seemed like he went out of his way for people to not know he went there.
He’s the best in the business. When fans from each school think he pumps up the other school and not theirs, then he’s doing his job.

Back in the day, Billy Packer irritated every acc school. We all thought he hated our school.

I've never thought Bilas was an obvious Duke homer. If he's pumping them up this year it probably has more to do with them being the best team than it does with him being an alumni.

He's critical just like I am of UK at times. It's more of a disappointment type thing than anything.

Haha Packer. He had a high basketball IQ, but yes, sometimes he was hard to listen to. I remember he used to always say Dunleavy like it was spelled "Dunlevy" - and he would do the same for Casey Sanders and say, "Saunders." I think he did something similar for Nick Horvath, too. Someone pointed this out to him and his response was, "So what?" Intentionally mispronouncing the names of players. Classy.

Yeah, he was laying it on pretty thick at times.
Go back to the shows he was doing just before the 2017 NCAAT and look at his giddyness. He was all about Duke. Then they lost in the second round. He was doing the same thing last year and he'll do it again this year.
Eventually he'll be right I guess.

Do you remember what Duke did before the Tournament started in 2017? They won 4 games in 4 days, with limited depth (1st time a team won the ACC Tournament playing on 4 straight days). They took down 3 straight top 25 teams, including two top ten teams. Yes, that was kid of impressive. Single elimination tournaments can blow everything up, like they often do. See UVA in 2018, Villanova in 2017, Michigan State in 2016, etc. It happens. Doesn't mean it was a bad team - or season.

Is Jay Bilas wrong about Jones?

He does not pump Dukle constantly. He talks about them when he is covering them though. Would you rather he not talk about one of the teams and its players while he is calling said teams game?

So ESPN has an edict to pump up Duke and never say anything negative? Keep in mind that the network you are talking about had an article on its from page about Duke's most hated white players. Sounds all rosy and nothing but positive press to me. Seth Greenburg says a lot of things about Duke and if you want to take a look at those things, not much is ever positive.

Jay Bilas is an individual thinker and he absolutely has been rough on Duke over the years. There is a reason a rather large portion of the Duke fan base is very against his style and approach to the program he played and coached for. It isn't that way because he is a Duke homer.

It really isn't a difficult concept to grasp is it?
