NET Rankings

It’s a system that’s clearly designed to make more sense with a large sample size hence waiting until the third month to release it.

There’s a reason they don’t release it week two. Because a team playing two games is going to be close to useless information.

A large sample size helps with every data system. That’s not something unique to the NET.

Similar to the RPI, there is one major flaw in the current NET formula. Making one tweak would create a ranking much closer to a true measure of strength, both now and at the end of year.

If you realize that then don’t bring up a team with a 2 game sample size as any sort of plus or minus against the system.

They intentionally don’t release NET until teams have like 8 games played.

Each year of the NET there have been several egregious examples of their design flaw, even at the end of the year. NC State was a notable one in the first year.
