It is a ridiculously dumb rule. Basically, they are going to change it to where taking a grad transfer uses a scholarship up for two years, even though they only have one year of eligibility.

Stupid beyond belief. These kids have already earned their degree, they owe jack shit to the NCAA or their school.

I saw a week or so ago that they were considering this only if the transfer doesn't get their graduate degree in a year, which is also stupid as hell. My masters took me two years to finish and I didn't have to practice/travel for basketball for two-thirds of the school year.

Probably schools bitching about their guys leaving for other pastures. Stupid is as stupid does. NCAA and stupid are synonymous. Is no longer about the student/athlete, its about the institutions.

Pretty sure they had 4 total too

Just two. Mooney (South Dakota) and Owens (St.John's) were both grad transfers, and they both started. Brandone Francis was a redshirt senior (transfered from Florida), but he'd been apart of the team the last 3 years. And Deshawn Corprew transferred in from a JUCO.

I agree with all the above, but I understand the impetus for the NCAA to do something. Rampant transfers is a bigger threat to the NCAA than one and done and early entrants. The former affects all programs, the latter much less so. Attacking grad transfers seems pretty dumb b/c they've already graduated and (at least on paper) could have scholastic reasons for transferring.

The NCAA is a conglomeration of all institutions. Most programs are average and lose players to better schools. So, if we are talking about the interests of the NCAA for this rule, it’s really about creating barriers to help the average programs. And that’s exactly and totally what this rule is about.

And I like this rule because it shows that the best interests of student athletes aren’t even considered. It’s transparently about taking advantage of people with no leverage to bargain. Shocker for the NCAA to do that.

Revisiting the Condoleeza Rice committee that was supposed to "end corruption", 1 of 2 player friendly rules that were implemented as a result of that clown show is basically being revoked, cant wait until they turn around on the NBA draft rule.
