to me that is doing something.

Fran has literally done nothing.

no just rebuilt a team from scratch and got Fans to come back and made Iowa BB fun and exciting to watch again, avg'ing 80+ ppg the last 2 season is better than watching paint dry offenses.

I guarantee u the vast majority of Iowa fans would be just fine with watching iowa average in the 60s if it means more wins and actual runs in the NCAAs. It is all about W and Ls. Va fans may not love their style but they sure like their wins and seasons under Bennett, their tourney struggles notwithstanding.

Was or wasn’t Fran the coach that has been there 8 years and built this years 4-14 roster?

they will get better. but this is about Wagner and who will replace him.

I would post in the Out of season thread but for some reason its blocked so I cannot find it.

I guess I am forced to read posters trashing the players and Fran while they hate me and I am not allowed to put them on ignore.

I was referring to your comparison ofMichigan and Iowa both using 9-10 man rosters. I’m saying that’s okay if your team improves as the season goes on.

It also makes replacing players easier for next year. Which gets back to the Wagner question.

this year 2 SR's to be left to play elsewhere 1 a GT will play BB at another school Wagner who has 40 starts is going to play FB.

these have left to play BB elsewhere
2012 class Guard Ingram left and as not been heard from again F/C Meyer went to Houston and did pretty good one was replaced by Transfer Uthoff
the other was a JUCO AA PG in Dickerson and he quit just before the 1st game of the NCAAT
he was replaced by a JUCO F in Jones who only played in 11 games because of injuries and he received a medical Hardship giving him a 6th Year and he transferred to one of the schools in the Dakota's

2013 Jok was the lone recruit

2014 Uhl, Dickerson and Ellingson
Uhl was the lone SR who just graduated, Dickerson who would have beeb a SR in the 2015 quit and finally graduated after going to 5 different schools. Ellingson RS and just left as a GT and would have been a SR in the 19 class

2015 JUCO Jones who would have been a SR in the 16-17 season, Williams quit just before the season began, Moss who RS'd, Hutton known as a lock down defender out Chicago RS'd who transferred to a JUCO after his RSFR year, Fleming who played as a FR then transferred out to be closer to home.
Wagner who has now flipped to FB
OUT of 6 in the class only Moss remains.

2016 Bohannon, Pemsl, Cook, Dailey and Kriener made up the class and Moss made it a 6 man class. nobody has left yet. Williams scholarship went to Fredrick who also was going to walkon,

2017 Nunge, Garza with McCaffery walking on

2018 Weiskamp, Fredrick and now Connor who was just put on scholarship makes this a 3 man class.

Fran does not go the Transfer route so when a player leaves he fills that spot with a HS player and a occasional JUCO player.

with the way kids transfer out for what ever reason its hard to balance the classes right now the breakdown going forward should look like this
2018 Class 3 scholarships

2019 class 2 scholarships or 3 depending on Cook leaving or as the rumors swirling if Cook returns Pemsl might leave but his scholarship will be banked for the 2019 class,
2020 6 and as low as 4 scholarships
2020 4 minimum and 6 at the max.

excuse the length as it was to show how the recruiting has gone and how transfers or quitters affect the balance.

this is also what helps in preparing players to step into bigger roles as they advance, Iowa had a total of 6 players suffer injuries during the 17-18 season along with their youth,

Iowa was the 16th Youngest team out of 350 D1 teams. this group got a baptism in BT BB by fire.

but but Fran gets ridiculed for playing 9-10 players, and now Beilein gets praised for doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING.

This is where the thread starts to go off the rails. Well before any of my posts started. All 4 of them.

but it was meant to turn this into a pissing match with you. most in this thread knew that.
