The measures do not take effect until 2023, but they're part of a national push to allow collegiate athletes to get paid without repercussions.

"The only specific restriction to NIL markets in Michigan's law is that athletes can't sign deals that require them to wear apparel from a school sponsor's competitor during team events. Athletes would have to let their schools know about endorsement deals 7 days before signing. " - Dan Murphy
