Your argument for him not being a mediocre coach is his recruiting classes? Recruiting and coaching are 2 separate things. Butch Jones at UT was a hell of a recruiter but very very average as a coach, hence why he got fired. You bringing up the recruits Fran has gotten is just proving that he should be accomplishing more than he is...

with the 1st 2 Iowa in 4 years as starters won the third highest win total in their history
these players are just getting started. yes they are 4* players but there are not 1 n done players nor do they have a senior leader.

by most Hawk fans they were picked to be at best a middle of the BT then in the 18-19 and 19-20 seasons when most of these players will JR's then SR's they are expected to make a serious run.

you must be one of those that demand FR and SO play like 1 n done or as SENIORS, so which is it?

before Fran Iowa just had 3 winning season in the BT in 11 seasons, since Fran Iowa has had 5 straight .500+ seasons out of 7 seasons, yeah that's
a real terrible coach.

before those 11 season under Lute and Davis Iowa had 1 BT Championship, reached the FF, Elite 8, 4 sweet 16's 1 the year Davis was run off. Davis went 9-0 in NCAAT 1st round games, Davis last 4 years produced a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place finish.
from the 78-79 thru the next 21 year Iowa went to the NCAAT 16 times, this is when there were only 10 teams in the BT.

Lute last 5 years before he left he had 1 1st place finish, 2 2nds and 2 4th's

the 80's and 90's Iowa was a constant top half of the BT and NCAAT Qualifier.

SA and Lick turned Iowa into a total garbage dump that Fran has/had to clean up and then rebuild from the ground up. including getting fans back into Carver.
consider all the cheating going on he has done a very good job.

now unless he starts to cheat on the level of Pitino SR this team will have to rely on instate talent which is improving to play for Iowa or get players like Cook, Garza, Nunge a solid 4 year player, Moss out of Simeon HS in Chicago a solid 4 year player, not to mention glue guys like Baer, Pemsl, Kriener, Dailey, most teams don't have 10+ 4-5* players on their team
