Where is your team ranked? Do you feel they got it right?

It’s still heavily based on preseason data. Need to wait another month or so.

I do think Baylor is #1 though.

25 seems about right for FSU. But there’s a bunch where it is obvious that some preseason inputs are still being filtered out. Duke at 13 for example.

Filthy little Blue blood...

I thought we finally had all of them filtered out of the system.

Not sure about this year but I think it normally takes like 8-9 games for his preseason stuff to fully wash out.

Duke's performance against ND helped.
They would be closer to 20 if not

Ball movement looked a lot better, no question. Not as much isolation as other games. But, I'm tempering my expectations due to it being Notre Dame, who doesn't have a top 100 defense.

Boise State is going to make some noise this year. I think they'll give San Diego State a challenge for the MWC title. I'd be surprised if they don't finish the season significantly higher than 82nd. A lot of talent on that team. Would be a scary team to face in the 1st Round, IMO.

That BYU win is going to continue to look better and better.

St. Mary's might make the WCC a 3 bid league again if they can beat San Diego State tonight.

Yup. And they beat BYU without Marcus Shaver and Devonaire Doutrive. Boise State is a little thin in the frontcourt, but there's an argument to be made that they have more overall talent than San Diego State.

I haven't seen much of SMC play since they got torched by Memphis (I saw a few minutes of the UNI game). They've evidently righted the ship. Amazing how Bennett has been able to re-tool that program again. I thought they would take a major hit with everyone that left at the close of 2020. BYU found themselves in a situation similar to SMC. Lost a lot of seniors and didn't look especially sharp at the start of the season, especially the USC game. But, they've played nicely since then. USF had that great win over UVA. And even though they already have 4 losses on the season, they still might be the biggest threat between the Zags and an unblemished season. Should be a good conference season. Hoping the WCC get at least one at-large bid; two would be phenomenal.

Remember when they came up in conversation in regards to Houston.
They played Houston pretty tough. Always considered even before the season Boise State a bubble NCAA team.
Winning the Mountain West would really help their resume

I think it goes to show how good last year's BYU and St. Mary's teams were. Because I think these teams are significantly worse, but they both could still make the tournament at this point.

That USF win over Virginia is looking more and more fraudulent to me though. I think there are some teams in the WCC that can get up for a big game or two, but they aren't at the consistency that I was hoping to see this year. But we will see what Pepperdine and LMU can do in conference.

I haven't seen USF play this season. I'm sure I'll watch several of the clashes against the WCC big 3. But, I know they gave you guys some serious battles last season. They looked awfully impressive in those games last year. But yes, it certainly makes you pause when they've been mostly uninspiring in the other contests this season.

And in regards to SMC and BYU, they were really, really good last year. I was fully aware of it. Saw both teams play 10+ times. Not sure most people really appreciated how good they were. SMC took down the Co-Big Ten Champs, Wisconsin, as well as a 40-point beatdown of Arizona State. BYU beat Houston on the road; and they took care of UCLA, Virginia Tech, and Utah State without the services of Yoeli Childs. Both are still good this season, but I think they'll both spend the bulk of the season in the bubble.

I said this three weeks ago. Jon Rothstein is catching on. And hey, they've moved up from 82nd to 56th in the KenPom rankings. Boise State has a legitimate chance at winning the MWC - or picking up an at-large bid. They're a fun team to watch.

Rice is a fantastic coach. If Oregon lost Altman for whatever reason, I’d love to have him coach the Ducks
