KU/Creighton

KU has to learn to finish around the rim. So many pts they leave on the board because they can’t finish within 5 feet of the rim.

I’ve never seen a team with decent length get blocked so often. It’s like they’re facing 5 Wilts.

Self’s refusal to sit McCormack and even worse desire to make him the focal point of the offense is going to doom KU until he gets past his stubbornness.

If McCormack would just start going up like a man, he’d either score or draw the foul. And he’s a solid FT shooter for a big. But he’d prefer to fade away vs undersized defenders.

That is literally his biggest issue. Every shot at the rim is a hook or a fade away. He’s not doing a shot fake with an up and under. Not attempting to go up strong through the defender. Even his dunk attempt he was somehow fading away.

You have to think it’ll improve with coaching and experience. Maybe?

As a Creighton season ticket holder that was a very disappointing loss. 50% from the stripe, double digit turnovers and 13 offensive rebounds given up. Can’t believe we only lost by 1 point but felt like we lost a great chance to steal a victory.

You did. Either team could have won that game by double digits by making a few more shots.

Both teams failed to capitalize on many chances of securing a comfortable win. I feel like we will be in these types of games all year---against ranked teams and shit teams.

Agreed on that. Jayhawks D was fantastic but there does not seem to be a lot of flow to their offense.

Just watched the highlights. Looked like a phenomenal game. Would have liked to see Creighton pull it off as it's good to see some fresh blood once in a while. Was surprised how well they play. Looks like KU is getting their stuff together too.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to any Ku fan but I can understand from an outsider perspective if you didn’t see this coming.

Is this a great KU team, no. But it only has to be as good as the teams this year.

We have a lot of new players and the ones we return are all thrusted into new roles and the spot light. I think the ceiling is very high for this team.

It’s a good shooting team. They have shown improvement and virtually every player besides Marcus Garrett is a shell of itself compared to what is will develop into this year.

Are we a dominant team, no. But we were neck and neck with Gonzaga when Ochai went out with 4 fouls late in the game. We played horrific defense that day. Our defense is much better since then.

We still have a long way to go as we learn to run our offense. KU fans expect perfection right away however many of us (myself included) have been hoping for more program guys which is what self has done. With that it will take time for lesser talented players to learn their roles, learn the offense and learn how to play together. I’ve seen a lot of progress since Gonzaga game with still a mountain of improvement to be made.

Bill Selfs teams never start out great but develop as good as any throughout the season. He’s the most underrated coach in America. I understand he doesn’t have the titles but I wouldn’t trade him for anyone. His titles are coming.

Nice analysis. Would appreciate your thoughts on Creighton,

Very, very good team. At worst a 3 seed in the tourney. I am guessing Creighton wins there league.

The biggest thing they need is to develop one of those bigs. With all those shooters; Jefferson is perfect mix because of his toughness and ability to do the little things. Creighton is closer to their ceiling than Ku but they certainly have plenty of room to grow.

Creighton is without a doubt one of the best teams in the country.

I’m a little surprised at how high everyone is on Creighton. Granted, I missed much of the first half.

I hope they’re a really good team. Would make me feel better about KU’s prospects.
