It takes time to get a program to the upper echelon, it's as simple as that. It's only year 2, and almost every coach has struggled the first few years at a new program. Go ahead and get your kicks in now, because I still believe that by year 4....everything is going to be great. Last years team didn't even make the NIT....then lost 5 seniors. People had unrealistic expectations going into this season (including me), but this team is improved over last years team. That improvement is even on top of dealing with the worst case of injuries I've ever seen for a team.
2017-18 ranked 71 kenpom, 91st in offensive efficiency, 65th in defensive efficiency. SoS 54th and the BIG was historically bad
2018-19 ranked 45th in kenpom, 71st overall efficiency , 33rd in defensive efficiency. Their SoS is 8th and are in one of the best BIG seasons from top to bottom. Not a single BIG team is ranked above 100 this year.
Last years team didn't beat a single team that made the tournament. This years team has at least 4 of those wins and has a good enough resume that they just recently fell off of most projected NCAA fields. I'm disappointed, but I'm also able to look at the bigger picture....this team is moving in the right direction!
