Aw hell we have...

Kentucky fans rushed the court following a Senior Day win over Tennessee in 1973. It was an 86-81 victory for the Cats in the final game of the 1972-73 season in Memorial Coliseum. Kevin Grevey led all scorers with 28 points, followed by Jimmy Dan Conner’s 23 and 19 from Jim Andrews. Mike Flynn and Ronnie Lyons were the only two other Wildcats to score with 10 and 6 respectively.

Should've said FANS, but I'm drunk. lol

No doubt the students were doing their civic duty and sweeping the trash and filth off the floor left by the Vols presence as expeditiously as possible.

That was the first year without Rupp. Odd because we dominated them. Split the season with them and had dominated before that.

Anytime after 1996 if your team stormed the court it’s embarrassing. They say act like you’ve been there, but unfortunately most teams never have.

Yes. In fact, I’ve stormed the court on multiple occasions.

There was a stretch in winter 2004 where FSU probably stormed the court 3 times in two weeks. Ahhh the Tim Pickett days. Loved that guy.

OP blue blood humble bragging?
While still in school, I remember we stormed court after beating Greg O and company.

Right, and who cares? I know some guys who ripped the goal posts down at a UT-Florida game and Tennessee is historically a much better program. Dudes were like 19 though. I used to throw Molotov cocktails, do all sorts of illegal crap, and tear all sorts of **** up when I was 19. Storming a court doesn't seem like a huge deal tbh.

Have to be honest, it was cringeworthy tonight for the Hawks because we controlled the game. It was cringeworthy in Kinnick in 2017 when we smashed OSU. Because we controlled/dominated both games. But I have to admit, for an Iowa fan, those are always exciting wins. I was the first idiot student on the field before the clock expired for this one:

(Please check the context in terms of record/rank).

But in 2017 Kinnick, my brother who is 10 years younger than me wanted to rush the field against OSU. Me and my dad were not with it (because we're both fat and old). So I say go get it young Hawk. Rush your court. You're an Iowa fan. You're going to enjoy a few wins live against top 5 AP competition. You're also going to suffer.

So rush that one time. Your first AP top 5 blowout. And then reserve it for dramatic wins. Like I did as a part of the greatest generation of Iowa fans who survived the great depression of Iowa athletics and made it to this decade.

Yeah definitely a low moment in ky football. We are accustomed to those though. Kind of like where Louisville is now
Yeah, being a top 15 team in b-ball with a new football coach after winning two BCS bowls over the past 15 years. Man, miserable I tell ya.

Storming the field in football is great and Im all for it.

Basketball, there's just so many games. It really needs to be an extenuating circumstance like ending a 20 yr streak. Or you beat the #1 team on youe home court and you are 0fer in conference.

What circumstances do we rush the court Cats fans? Natty is really all I can think of, and even then, most of us wouldnt. I feel like beating U6 in the Final 4 elicited more of a court storming response than beating Kansas in the title game.

I dunno. Each school is different so I can see different rationales for games as being stormable. I dont care if anyone does it. I do think for UK its beneath us to do it with our history.

A couple of years ago Iowa State was ranked in the top 5 and Iowa was unranked. ISU won the game and their fans rushed the court. Good stuff.

Pretty sure the last time Duke fans did it was when Dockery hit a half court shot at the buzzer against VT. Like 2006 or 05? I also think that is beneath Duke.

Cuse fans have rushed the court probably a dozen times over the years.

It used to bug me, but now I'm all for letting the kids have a good time.

I stormed the field after this one. Slapped Connor Barth’s helmet but thought I might suffocate as people got there, so I bailed quickly after that. I had one leg on the railing as the ball was being snapped, even have some of the painted blue grass form the end zone in a jar in the basement. Just watched it w my boys (6 n 8) for the first time the other day. Ha. Good times. Would do it again.

The whole beneath argument and ‘rationale’ argument seems sort of grumpy old man. Of course ideally it is beneath schools like UNC, UK, KU, Duke, etc... Kids don’t really think that way though. They are just living in the moment and not concerned about what some old dude on a message board may think.

I appreciate your points. But I am not ready to be called an old man. Haha.

I remember in 2015-16 unranked Iowa was at #4 Iowa State and they rushed then court after the game. For Iowa last night and 2015-16 against #1 MSU come to mind immediately

I’ve never seen Florida do it in football or basketball.

I am not a court rusher fan but whatever. If those rushing the court leave the players alone, let the kids have their fun. I do know that Duke has the court rushed on them most times they lose on the road.

With everything that had gone on and with how the game went...I thought it was great when IU did it against Kentucky. But, when those same students did it a few weeks later after beating #1 Wisconsin...I thought that was excessive and embarrassing.

But with how bad it had been during Creans 3 years and with only having 1 player on that first team who hadn't ever played before....I understood it.

I think its silly to worry about it. Most college students really aren't aware of a said school's tradition---Nor do they probably care. Hell,a large majority of the students are probably from out of state. Just kids, man. Kids having fun.
