So this ordeal with the Nevada team has brought the whole court storming thing up again I guess. Personally, I think the handshake line is a bit antiquated. Just go to the locker room.

Handshake line is dumb imo. Get rid of it. What’s the point? I also have been a big proponent of penalizing someway schools whose fans storm the court. There is no way the players and coaches should have to face that security issue. At some point one of these is going to end very badly for a fan or player.

My brother-in-law is a D1 football coach. He wishes they would do the handshake line before games. Emotions are running pretty high after games and it's pretty easy to set off some kids. Actually surprised it doesn’t happen more often. He was lucky in that he spent 16 years coaching at one of the military academies.

Btw, whoever pissed off that big dude in the beginning, hope they ran like hell. That guy was enraged.

I understand why some college kids would be all emotional in the moment and do it. I do think for the most part that is it. However, that doesn't get rid of the major issues that Denn brought up, which I completely agree with. I just don't know what you can do as a penalty that would be effective. I would be all for something if it worked though. Players sholdn't have to deal with that.

After seeing it more in depth, I have to say that the Nevada player completely overreacted and acted like a bitch. And the coach, almost in tears yelling at the cop, "They're going to touch my players?!" What a pussy. Touched in what way? Rubbing shoulders in a crowd?

We can debate the dangers of students rushing the court, but IMO this is more of a case of Nevada having sensitivity issues. Sore losers.

I haven’t seen the court storming at all, just the reaction. Could be they were just sore losers. Still think the line and court storming need to go.

They showed it on Sportscenter. Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to students rushing the court.

It’s a safety issue for sure. The handshake line is pointless and it’s certainly not worth the risk.

There needs to be a very significant financial incentive to not rush the court

Found a couple clips on this incident. Commotion starts shortly after the 3:50 mark in the videos (different angles, but it will be the same time for both). I'm guessing that's where a Utah State coach said something in the hallway, which provoked several of the players. Check out 3:57 in the second video. Several Nevada players are right outside the locker room waiting to charge out of there like raging bulls. One of the teammates appears to be holding them back, but he's obviously out-numbered

Also, kind of obvious who the coach is that started throwing out f-bombs in the handshake line. Start at 25 seconds and follow the USU coach at the end of the line, with a blue suit. He is confronted by several Nevada coaches between 35-40 seconds on the video.
