Of course that's with no clue what the rosters will look like 3 months from now....

All of these going around this morning seem to have Kentucky in the top 3 even with the assumption that Herro is leaving.. I just don’t see that at all to be honest, unless the overall level of play is noticeably lower next year

Marquette should be bringing back their top 7 players, but it's still hard to imagine them as a national title contender for some reason. Kobe McEwen, Utah State transfer, will be eligible for them next season. He averaged 15.6 ppg in 2018. He could help take some of the load off of Howard and be a #2 or #3 scoring option.

Also, speaking of Utah State, forgot to include them in my top 25. Forgot they had Sam Merrill and Neemias Queta both expected to return... For being the day after the tournament, I'm okay with the rankings for the most part. My only beef, is I think Florida State absolutely has to be on this list. I have them in my top 10 with Kabengele returning.

Just going to assume we are #9 because Bruno hasn’t announced he’s leaving yet. If he does comeback somehow, we don’t lose anybody and could definitely be top 15. B1G going to be brutal again next year it seems.

If Bruno comes back, Maryland is most likely a top 10 team. Another year of Bruno and Jalen Smith would be crazy. That would easily be the best 4-5 tandem in the country.

Still can’t believe UVA hit 3 desperation shots in 3 consecutive games in the closing seconds to get their title.

Just wow

Marquette brings back their top 7 and is adding an impact player?

Not sure how they wouldn't be a contender. Next year isn't likely to be a loaded field.

On paper they look great. Top 10 team, no question. But the fact that Wojo has been there for 5 years and still hasn't won a game in tournament leaves some doubt in my mind.

No idea what KU's roster will look like. My guess is Bill will be working with Dotson, Grimes, Agbaji, Garrett, McCormack, Lightfoot, freshman McBride, one of the 5 star PFs they're recruiting, a grad transfer, and De Sousa. I think there's actually a good chance that De Sousa's appeal is successful and he plays next season.

Sounds like Azubuike is gone, but it might be undecided.

this list is very funny. way to many questions to say where teams should be ranked. Iowa not in their top 25 is not a surprise. just like them being #9 in another is funny to me.

expected them to be in the 15-20 range to start with.

Why are Marquette, UVA and Nova higher than Duke?

Wojo hasn't won a single tournament game.
UVA should lose Guy, Jerome and Hunter.
Nova will lose Pascall and Booth.

I might be off on a few of these like Guy but this tournament should really raise Kyle's stock.

And Duke Zion, RJ and Cam. What's your point?
Tre Jones is returning and we should return all of our other players like DeLaurier, Bolden, O'Connell, Baker, Goldwire and White.

We bring in 2 5 stars in Vernon Carey and Wendell Moore, a 4 star in Boogie Ellis plus we will also likely pick up Hurt.

PG: Jones/Goldwire
SG: Moore/AOC/Ellis
SF: Moore/Hurt/White
PF: Hurt/DeLaurier/Carey
C: Carey/DeLaurier/Bolden

and of the 3 teams you singled out, Marquette returns its top 7 players, UVA returns 3 starters including Guy and Nova has a top 5 class coming in.

I wouldn't put too much stock in Duke bringing in great players as most top flight recruits at Duke end up playing under their ranking while at Duke.

Which top recruits besides Reddish and Duval underperformed at Duke?

Okafor: ACC POY
Bagley: ACC POY
Zion: NPOY
Barrett: 1st Team All-American
Rivers: 1st Team All-ACC
Kyrie: would've been 1st Team All-American
Wendell Carter: 2nd Team All-ACC
Ingram: 2nd Team All-ACC
Tatum: 3rd Team All-ACC (Duke's best player by year's end)

Our upperclassmen and depth have been gutted by unexpected transfers and early departures (Thornton, Jeter, Trent, Jackson).

Tatum, Tre Jones, WCJ, Trent, Redish and Duval all underperformed at Duke. That's 6 guys in the past 3 years who were all top 10-15 nationally.

LOL at counting Kyrie as someone who performed well at Duke, he played 11 total games.

Taking it a step further....other than Kyrie, Tatum, Elton Brand, Luol Deng and maybe Laettner, former dookies have a history of underperforming at the next level.

Tatum underperformed? He started the year injured and became our best player by the end of the year.
In Carter, Trent, and Duval, you're claiming 3 freshmen starters from an E8 team all underperformed. And of course, no mention of how their relative performance was affected by playing in the shadow of a classmate who was ACC PoY and 1st team AA in Bagley.
Tre and Reddish also played in the shadow of 2 classmates who were 1st team AA.
If we had the top 6 recruits in the country, would you claim the 6th one underperformed b/c he didn't even start any games?

What does that have to do with Duke?

Also, Johnny Dawkins, Grant Hill, Corey Maggette, Shane Battier, Carlos Boozer, Mike Dunleavy Jr, Chris Duhon, JJ Redick, Gerald Henderson Jr, Lance Thomas, Kyle Singler, Austin Rivers, Seth Curry, Rodney Hood, Quinn Cook, Justise Winslow, Brandon Ingram, Harry Giles II, and Frank Jackson have not/did not underperform at the next level.

Desperation? Diakite's maybe. But the others ? Not at all; though Guys three to cut AU's lead from 4, to 1, was a tough as shot. Hunters shot was a wide open look. I guess I am splitting hairs. But to me, desperation implies lucky, improbable shots that go in. IMO, none of the three fit that.

Guy is a 6'2 shooting guard with limited athleticism and doesn't really show up in mock drafts. UVA will be great again.

Even if duke lands hurt, you all are returning one player that averaged more than 5ppg and only bringing in a decent class. Not great. And shooting will be an issue again. Next year's duke team is not a contender.
