You guys are really good at winning 3 games. That 4th seems pretty elusive.

I like what I saw out of your new coach though. He may be able to break through before too long.

I think several of K-State’s happened when a tourney berth was an automatic Elite 8. And several more when you only had to win 1 game. 4 of the 14 are from the modern format. So I wouldn’t say they’ve been great at winning three games, but it’s still impressive to be tied for 6th.

Incorrect

From 1951-1974, there were 16 teams.
1975-1985 32 teams.
1985-present 64-68 teams. (68 now)

6 of those elite 8’s are 1975-present. Win two games.
The other 8 are 1951 up to 1972.

So even in 1961, you had to win a game to get to elite 8.

I thought they had a few in the early days of the tourney. But the point still remains. They've only won three tourney games 3 times.

4 88, 10, 18, 23.

You know the big 12 is threatening KU more than ever now by kstate, don’t lie. Texas I think falls back a little for a bit. Isu, Baylor and Tcu don’t know…

7 Elite 8s (70% win rate in Sweet 16 games)

The Big 12 has been good for a while. It's gotten deeper recently, but there's always been at least a few really solid teams that KU has to deal with. Even during the 14 year streak, there were 4 co-champs, and several that came down to the final game or two. A play or two in some cases.

The transfer portal makes it almost impossible to predict a team's near future, much less longterm. Today, KU's '24 roster looks pedestrian (too young). In a few months, they'll probably look like a top 10 team again. I think it will be harder for K-State to reload, but I'm sure they'll be fairly solid again.

Agree on all. Really wanted kstate to book that FF tho and even Texas. B12 without a team in ff doesn’t matchup with how historically good it was.

I think we’ll reload fine. Tang is an an insane recruiter. We have two top 100 guys in for next year.

Now let's do DePaul....

22 total NCAA appearances (21-25 record, 46% win rate overall)
10 Sweet 16s
3 elite 8s
2 Final fours
0 national championships (did win the 1945 NIT with Mikan when that was as big as the NCAA)

We were neck and neck with UVA till that pesky elite 8 shows up and then it's all UVA the rest of the way.

I was wondering how you had more losses than appearances. Then, I remembered you had stuff vacated.
