Defendants found GUILTY on All Counts of Defrauding Universities.

Well thats your own fault........ You not even a little bit frustrated you lost Wiggins to cheating adidas?

In hindsight did you really want Wiggins?

Also Adidas accusations aside. Wiggins was never going to go to UK with the Harrison's there. Wiggins was between KU and FSU in the end. Besides the Adidas allegations, Wiggins was also only 2 hours away from his brother. Nick Wiggins being at Wichita State played a massive part in Wiggins picking KU over FSU.

I forgot his brother played for the Shockers.

I think the ncaa has a clause that does allow them to review and use third party evidence, including criminal court testimony. But it is written in that bylaw that personal testimony, particularly hearsay that includes having to be left to interpretation isn't usable as proof and cannot be taken as gospel. I think the courts findings will weigh heavily---but they will use the allegations, both ones that might be true as well as made up---to justify looking into players and coaches. And they should.

They definitely have that clause. They just added it to their last round of bylaws or whatever you call it. They now have the right to piggy back on the investigations of any 3rd party enforcement or investigative body to bring swifter action.

They are going to get to pour over hours and hours of tapped phone calls, IMO. Calls that weren't allowed in court. So a lot of this stuff like calls where we didn't get all of the context because were weren't allowed to hear the entire call or read the entire testimony, they will get to see that.

Again, There is also the chance that im totally wrong as i'm kind of winging this thing.

honestly I think UK was only mentioned for P.R. I never felt good about getting him.

It verified that the school didn't know not necessarily the staff.

Thank you.

I’d also point out that this will lead to appeals, which could keep the schools in question in the spotlight for even longer.

For all the hype Wiggins was a little disappointing in college. he wasnt Skal disappointing..... but then again lets be honest...... the real disappointment in Skal was that they ever rated him that highly to begin with.

Skal was overrated but also lacked drive and was incredibly soft.

Wiggins on the other hand definitely has the talent. But man that dude lacks any drive whatsoever. Disappointing because of what you see he can do when he wants to play at a high level.

His talent.... if he had any drive what so ever he'd be a top 3 player in the NBA. But instead of Wiggins we got James Young... who coincidentally also lacked the drive.... kid even admitted he forgot plays seconds after Cal called them.

Shred it? It wasn't admitted into court and it certainly doesn't prove any payment was made of any kind to zion---by adidas or from duke. Its basically third party hearsay from a guy desperate to save his own skin. KT's text saying if thats what it takes we need to find a way to land him can be taken a ton of different ways---including absolute guilt---also including doing as much as legally possible to meet the requests without breaking eligibility rules. It certainly helps he didn't land in lawrence.

Shred it because it shows that townsend was discussing cheating like that with a guy that was involved in cheating ... showing that KU knew what was going on

I’m thinking this means the other guys will plea bargain and there will be no more trials. What’s come out during this trial is probably the worst of it.

Haven't read all three pages, but just to be clear, the headline of this topic is incorrect. They were not charged with "defrauding universities", but rather wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Obviously defrauding universities isn't a direct charge. However, the concept still stands. That is what's being reported, that is what I'll say.

They were also charged with defrauding universities out of scholarship money. at least thats what the articles have said

No need to dwell, but;

"Adidas employee James Gatto, former Adidas consultant Merl Code and Christian Dawkins, a former runner for NBA agent Andy Miller, were found guilty on felony charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud after a three-week criminal trial in federal court in New York."

"The jury found all three men guilty of both counts. Gatto was also convicted on an additional count of wire fraud."

I saw two articles mention those and defrauding schools so I assumed it was 3 charges. I guess defrauding schools was part of one of those main 2 charges then

If the NCAA wanted to......... they could get self and KU for playing SDS after they already knew preston was paid by gassnola. When Gassnola said he'd help for both players. I mean its pretty common sense to look into the 2nd guy when you already know the 1st guy was paid and cheated.

I highly doubt the NCAA would want to go that route though

I just don't see how the NCAA does anything now to any specific school regardless of evidence because the schools will claim they didn't know and are the victims. They will claim that you can't punish a victim. I think they will just have some "suggestions" again. But we're years away from that.

Oh someone will be punished....unfortunately its going to be my great grandchildren who are the only ones around to witness it. So, in about 35 years....someone will be paying for this!
