Not much of one myself, but I respect the craft.

The wife and her family are heading up to Canada for big game bow hunting. Western Canada.

I will eat anything they bring back. I know very little about it but it's a big deal yearly trip for them.

First time I met her father was when he had 2 deers gutted hanging. Both with bows.

Not exactly sure where they're going. I know there flying to BC and something like a 15 hr drive from there. Whole village basically rented out. She said something about 200 ppl live there and 30 are showing up.

*my wife's gun collection is intimidating.

I've gotten into spearfishing in the past couple years during Hawaii visits. Shot some different goat fish during this past trip - steamed one whole and used the other two for ceviche. They were only about 1-2 lbs each, but tasty as hell.

I've never thought about land hunting (despite living in Colorado), but shooting a fish on a 35 foot free dive then eating it was pretty damn satisfying.

My buddy gets an elk just about every season and it is so good. Way better than venison imo.

Grew up hunting rabbits, squirrels and other small game. When I met my wife, her family were big deer hunters, so that’s what I started focusing on. Once I killed a few does and smaller bucks, I concentrated solely on larger racked, mature bucks. Now I will only take a minimum mature 8 pointer or larger with an antler spread out past the deer’s ears. I hunt with a crossbow, muzzleloader and rifle.

I hunt a lot. Deer and Turkey mainly, and occasionally squirrel, and dove. Turkey hunting is my favorite. I typically take 3 deer per year. Usually two by bow and one by rifle. Usually two turkeys, but not always. As for doves. I get about 5 for every box of shells I shoot. They are FAST. Did get a Ky wildcat once with a bow! Also an avid fisherman. Not as much rod and reel as putting out noodles for catfish.

Do you live in N. Carolina?

I hate driving in Frankfort.
I pretty much hate driving anywhere. Everybody goes too slow, too many going the same direction I'm going, too many making me slow down so the can turn, too many that don't turn right on red. Turning their wiper washer on throwing mist all over my truck right after i wash it.
