Before some little bitch goes off about how much of this stuff doesn't matter ... it's just for fun.
Notes
- Kansas and Kentucky were the only programs to lead their conference in every single category. North Carolina led all but four categories, with Syracuse having the fewest losing seasons and Duke leading in 30-win seasons, "protected" NCAAT seeds and ACC Tournament championships.
- Even though Kansas is the clear-cut top of the pack, the Big XII has a lot more historical parity than one might initially assume. Six of the remaining nine schools were in second place for at least one category.
- Speaking of parity ... the Big Ten has a shitload of it! Seven different schools led at least one category, and six of those seven led multiple categories. There does seem to be a pretty hard historical dropoff after Indiana, MSU, OSU, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Purdue and Wisconsin.
- Villanova really cemented itself among the all-time elite within the last decade. If I had made this list in 2010 or so, the Big East would have looked a lot more even ... but 'Nova has really separated itself from the pack, even UConn!
Lastly, my biggest surprises...
- KSU having, by far, the second most Sweet Sixteens in the Big XII with 18. The next closest is Oklahoma and Oklahoma State with 14.
- Texas having the second best winning percentage in the Big XII.
- Alabama having the second most weeks in the AP Top 25 in the SEC. Arkansas was second in most categories, but 'Bama has spent a full 35 more weeks ranked.
- St. John's having the second most 20-win seasons in the Big East (41).
- Oregon having the second most Pac-12 Tournament titles and appearances.
