if thing keep up ranking wise for our remaining regular season games. 22 of Auburns 31 regular season games this season will have been quad 1 games. Anyone ever played anymore than that in a season in the net or kenpom rankings era? @dukedevilz I know you follow this stuff

Kansas in 2023 had 24 Quad 1 games (17-7), though, that includes the 3 Big 12 Tournament games. Those Q1 Big Tourney games are factored into the resume, so I think they're worth noting.

If Auburn were to play in the SEC Title game, then you could be looking at 25 Quad 1 games, which is pretty wild.

Wow. one other question. Does Duke prefer the east region or the south region as the 1 seed?. What do you think there preference is. I think Duke is going to end with a better record than the top SEC team has due to acc being trash but I want Auburn to really get the south region 1 seed. I would even take the south as a 2 seed with it being in atlanta for the 2nd weekend but guessing that would onlt happen with duke or another non sec team. doubt they would put 2 sec teams as the 1 and 2 seed in the south.

I think whoever wins the SEC will likely be the #1 overall seed. Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, or whoever will have twice as many Q1 games, and likely twice as many Q1 wins (if not more), than Duke. I'd put hard money on the SEC champ being the top overall seed.

FWIW, I'd rather go in the East Region. The NYC metropolitan area has more Duke graduates than any other region in the country outside of the research triangle in NC. It's nice because you have the influx of Duke fans without the distraction of UNC noise that will often outnumber us at neutral court arenas.

I'm okay with that. UConn is still very much a good team - and they're capable of a Final Four run. But, they are by no means a juggernaut. I'd favor Duke 2/3 times in that matchup.

The SEC is going to have a top 4 seed in all of the regions. That's a given. So if Duke is a 1 in the East, we very well could see an Alabama or Florida in the bottom half of the region - if not them, maybe a Kentucky, Texas A&M, or Mississippi State. UConn will likely need to take down an SEC team to reach the Elite 8.

They’re not a juggernaut right now, but they weren't last year, or the year before at this time either.

uconn has juggermaut most of the year last year. Agree about in 2023 though. They were a 4 seed in the dance that year

They just have something that I can't explain right now. They build up through the season, like everyone else, but that offense is sick. Hurley has figured something out and ever since 2010, they have had UK's number, so if duke fans don't mind it, have at it.

I was really hoping Luke Murray would get a head coaching job in the offseason. I think he's the brains of the outfit.

Yeah, this UConn team doesn't scare me. They have nice pieces and they're certainly capable of a run... but, they're also super beatable.

Honestly, I can think of 5 SEC teams that I find more daunting.
I think Auburn, Iowa st. Duke, Florida, and unfortunately Alabama are the best 5 right now

I picked UConn in the Final Four the past 2 seasons. This feels more like a Round of 32/Sweet 16 type of team.

That's a pretty solid list. I'd also put Houston in that mix. They've lost 2 OT games and another close one to Auburn in regulation. They get it after defensively and they've also been shooting lights out recently.

Losses to Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia... perhaps Kentucky just needs to avoid football schools.
Right?

Although the road losses to Clemson and UGA don't bother me. I would expect UK to lose 6-7 more conference games this year, most of which will be on the road.

As for the OSU game, UK was a complete no show. Was shocked to see them play with no energy or intensity. They got what they deserved, which was an absolute beat down by a team that actually showed up to play. That loss is on Pope for not having them ready to play at MSG.

I remember watching this last night thinking that may have been a generous call. This confirms it. And the basketball gods denied the 80% free throw shooter. Villanova was meant to win this game - and not have it altered by the refs.
