    Jokers to the right.
    Here I am,

We are on the same page The baroque style of that song remains unique.

Two other groups under appreciated were the early Zombies and Them with Van Morrison ( still ranks as one of the best rock singers of all time IMO) Yardbirds were also innovative. The Beatles, Stones, and others kind of limited their airplay.

Three of my early favorites ( Better than the originals IM0)

    Don't look Back

Its All over Now Baby Blue ( should have been used in Breaking Bad)

My Lonely Sad Eyes ( Morrison did write this one I believe)

Love all 3 of those as well
Van Morrison and Eric Burdon are 2 of my favorite, underated rock voices

    Bob Dylan Positively 4th street

    You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down you just stood there grinning
    You got a lotta nerve
To say you gotta helping hand to lend
You just want to be on the side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt why then don't you show it
You say you've lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You have no faith to lose and you know it

    I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd you're in with
Do you take me for such a fool
    To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide what it don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
    You always act surprised
You say, "How are you? Good luck."
    But you don't mean it
When you know as well as me
    You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once and scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief perhaps I'd rob them
And though I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don't you understand it's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And for just that one moment I could be you
Yes I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you

    Des'ree - Life

    I don't want to see a ghost
It's the sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
    Watch the evening news

I relate to this so much. I really don't want to see a ghost and I'd honestly rather have a piece of toast and watch the evening news.

Forgot my woman, lost my friends
Things I'd done and where I've been
Sleep in sweat the mirrors cold
See my face it's growin' old
Scared to death no reason why
Do whatever to get me by
Think about the things I said
Read the page it's cold and dead

He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want more sunlight
And the Oaks ignore their pleas

    The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade?

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
    As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks, just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
    And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
    By hatchet,
    Axe,
    And saw

    No One Together
    Kansas
Centuries of backward ways, have many left behind us
Who can count the good men gone away
The fruits of all our labors have left us as we started
We've come too far to end it in a day
It seems that everything we do is wrong
A one way trip to nowhere all along
Just look around and tell me what you see
    Another stupid page of history

No one together, No one is touching ground
Look at each other, Chaos is all around
Same situation, Nothing is really new
No one together, No one is me and you

Lo the horn of plenty is bursting at the seam
The harvest of the world will be our prize
We claim to know the secrets, the answers have been found
But how can one fool make another wise
'Cause nothing's better than it used to be
To live and die is still a mystery
We take away and we give nothing back
We just consume it all and still we lack

No one together, No one is touching ground
Look at each other, Chaos is all around
Same situation, Nothing is really new
No one together, No one is me and you

Each day passed by so quickly now
You can feel it drawing much closer now
The signs are in the faces of the people in the street
The signs are in the sound I hear
The voices filled with hate and fear
You can feel it drawing near you now

The multitudes are searching, and wandering in vain
For what they seek cannot be found in men
The truth that lies before us now is plain for all to see
To grow without is not to grow within
For in the promise is a victory
To see the way that everything should be
To feel the joy that we were meant to know
We should have realized so long ago

We're all together, Harmony will abound'
Look at each other, All that was lost is found
New situation if our direction's true
We're all together, Everyone is me and you

    Sing Me Back Home
    Merle Haggard & The Strangers

    Lyrics
The warden led a prisoner down the hallway to his doom
I stood up to say good-bye like all the rest
And I heard him tell the warden just before he reached my cell
'Let my guitar playing friend do my request.' (Let him...)

Sing me back home with a song I used to hear
Make my old memories come alive
Take me away and turn back the years
Sing Me Back Home before I die

I recall last Sunday morning a choir from 'cross the street
Came to sing a few old gospel songs
And I heard him tell the singers 'There's a song my mama sang.
Can I hear once before we move along?'

Sing me back home, the song my mama sang
Make my old memories come alive
Take me away and turn back the years
Sing Me Back Home before I die

Sing Me Back Home before I die

When you get to the point in life where I am now,the lyrics from 2 songs become poignant:
Frank Sinatra's "The September of My Years:

One day you turn around, and it's summer
Next day you turn around, and it's fall
And all the winters and the springs of a lifetime
    Whatever happened to them all.

    And Kenny Roger's "The Gambler":

    Every gambler knows
    That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
    And knowin' what to keep
    'Cause every hand's a winner
    And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for is to die
    in your sleep.

Understood and I mentioned that with my post. I believe many Bob Dylan's songs done by others received more acclaim and popularity.

    Some of the more memorable

All along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Blowing in the wind- Peter Paul and Mary
Mr Tamborine Man - The Byrds
It ain't me babe - the Turtles
    Mighty Quinn -Manfred Mann

Bob Dylan was a great songwriter but a lousy singer JMO

Bob Seger – Night Moves Lyrics
I was a little too tall
    Could've used a few pounds
    Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
    Way up firm and high

Well East coast girls are hip
I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down there

The Mid-West farmer's daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

The West coast has the sunshine
And the girls all get so tanned
I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island
Dolls by a palm tree in the sand

I been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the world

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)

    Well, I'm an axegrinder, piledriver
Mother says that I never, never mind her
    Got no brains, I'm insane
The teacher says that I'm one big pain

    I'm like a laser, six-streamin' razor
I got a mouth like an alligator
I want it louder, more power
I'm gonna rock ya till it strikes the hour

Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad
Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad

    Alright

    Well, I'm remonstrated, outdated
I really want to be over-rated
    I'm a finder and I'm a keeper
    I'm not a loser and I ain't no weeper

I got the boys to make the noise
    Won't ever let up
    Hope it annoys you
Join the pack, fill the crack
Well, now you're here, there's no way back

Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad
Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad

    Metal health'll cure you, crazy
    Metal health'll cure you, mad
Metal health is what we all need
It's what you have to have

Bang your head, wake the dead
We're all metal mad, it's all you have

So bang your head and raise the dead
Oh yeah, Metal health, it's not too bad, bad, bad, bad

Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad
Bang your head! Metal health'll drive you mad

Oh, get your straight-jackets on tonight
Oh, the bad boys are gonna set you right
Oh, rock on, rock on, rock on!
    Bang your head!

This one from Warren Zevon always gets me howling :

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein

    Aaoooooo!
    Werewolves of London!
    Aaoooooo! (Repeat)

If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
    Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
    Werewolves of London again

    Asoooooo!
    Werewolves of London!
    Aaoooooo! (Repeat)

He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
    Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor

    Aaoooooo!
    Werewolves of London!
    Aaoooooo! (Repeat)

Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen
    Doing the Werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen
    Doing the Werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's
    And his hair was perfect

I've been listening to the live version of this song recently, f'ng awesome

    Dirty Day
    U2
    I don't know you
And you don't know the half of it
    I had a starring role
I was the bad guy who walked out
They said be careful where you aim
'cause where you aim you just might hit
You can hold onto something so tight
    You've already lost it
    Dragging me down
That's not the way it used to be
    You can't even remember
    What I'm trying to forget
    It was a dirty day
    Dirty day
    You're looking for explanations
    I don't even understand
If you need someone to blame
Throw a rock in the air
    You'll hit someone guilty
    From father to son
    In one life has begun
    A work that's never done
    Father to son
    Get it right
There's no blood thicker than ink
Hear what… Full lyrics on Google Play

    3 that I like a lot...............

The love you take is equal to the love you make.

I got to admit I was a little uneasy when she bent down to tie the laces of my shoes. Tangled up in blue.

Everything under the sun is in tune but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

Too many speak to me, here's a small sample:

    "And the weather's looking fine
And I think the sun will shine again
And I feel I've cleared my mind
All the past is left behind again" ~Ozzy

"All you have is your fire
And the place you need to reach
Don't you ever tame your demons
But always keep 'em on a leash" ~Hozier

"I had a plan and it made God laugh
It didn't work, should've checked the math
I hit the wall 'cause I live too fast
I didn't know it could hurt that bad

I clung to hope when there was none
I should've known that was so dumb

    (Whoa oh oh oh)
    (Whoa oh oh oh)

I was a dick when I was seventeen,
I thought the world owed me everything
But who I am and who I'll never be
Is all the shit that happens in between

    (Whoa oh oh oh)
    (Whoa oh oh oh)

    There's no going back,
When life's a loaded gun, you pull the trigger, trigger
    There's no going back
The past is in the past
Thank God it doesn't last forever

    There's no going back
    **** that going back
    There's no going back
    **** that going back

    Yesterday was another life
Turning left didn't turn out right
Stuck in hell when I was twenty-five
You can't regret what you don't decide

I should have stayed, should have let go
    Should've, could've means you'll never know

    (Whoa oh oh oh)
    (Whoa oh oh oh)

    There's no going back
When life's a loaded gun, you pull the trigger, trigger
    There's no going back
The past is in the past
Thank God it doesn't last forever

    There's no going back
    **** that going back
    There's no going back
    **** that going back

    The future I'm living now
Is not what I'd thought it'd be
    The person I was before
    Is nothing like me
    The future I'm living now
Is the way that I want it to be
The minute I walk through the door
    I slam it behind me

    There's no going back
When life's a loaded gun, you pull the trigger, trigger
    There's no going back
The past is in the past
Thank God it doesn't last forever

    There's no going back
    **** that going back
    There's no going back
**** that going back" ~Sick Puppies

"It’s time for a change, ya I came with some buddies
Who don’t mind getting muddy and bloody and standing for something
And putting some sense into this corrupt country
Go ahead big dog come over here and say something, woof!
I might die tonight, but if I do I'ma be okay
And if I die tonight, at least I stood by the stuff I said
I got two graves dug, one for me and one for the motha****er standing in my way
And if I die tonight, at least I can say I never ran away!" ~Upchurch
