    smart move young man.
Plus really is Better for West Virginia as now they can let their QB get all the reps ... lots of needed practice for a guy that hasn’t played much.

Never liked the guy's intangibles. WVU seemed to choke a lot this season.

It's sad how incredibly selfish today's young people are.

Yes, I know my generation raised them. We pucked up.

I could not stand to sit out my team's game. At what point moving forward do players quit? As soon as eliminated from playoffs? Conference title race?

These are bonus games. He's about to be a millionaire. Ask Jaylon Smith and Jake Butt what can happen if you choose to play in these bowl games.

I know what could happen but many of these guys continued to play in games where nothing was at stake but gaining a better bonus game. So, where does the line get drawn in the future?

It's a purely optional choice and only that persons choice. I don't get why some fans call it very selfish. Suffering a serious injury in the Camping World bowl could be the difference between earning 25 million and 5 million dollars.

Personal decision. I don't fault anyone for doing what they see fit.

But for every action there are consequences.
Maybe one day he wishes he had played
    Maybe not.

What if someone had a great first half of the season and decided to sit out the remaining games so they wouldn't get injured before the draft?

Time for an Onion story about a junior high schooler sitting out HS football because he's already got 12 bigtime college offers.

WVU starting tackle Cajuste will also sit out. So Grier’s replacement Jack Allison had 6 completions on 10 attempts this year. Wonder how many WVU fans just decided to skip this Orlando, FL-based bowl?

Congrats Orangemen on your 10 win season.

My take is that as a fan I'm disappointed if players on my fav team sit out, but I totally support their decisions.

I understand a player's reason for sitting out. The money, the fame, etc, after college. But at the same time, I still think and feel like it's a big F-U to their teammates.

Shrug, it is what it is.

I'm a little surprised but if we can win with our backup who has shown good potential, it will give our fans some hope for a nice season next year.

It is a bummer that he will not be there, but I understand the decision.
I do think it a good thing for the future of the team, as the new QB gets a jump on next season.
I think it stinks for fans who want to travel to the game.

I don't know how they could stand it either. It is like turning down your friends if they are having a big party to celebrate the year. It would make you wonder if the team ever mattered. It is like saying, well, this is business, not personal.

It's a minor bowl game. It's not like he's in a New Year's Six Bowl game.

He feels he's done enough to impress NFL teams.

The whole purpose of going to college is to get an education and find a job. If he feels he has enough education to get him that high paying job, then it makes logical sense to skip.

I don't fault players for skipping their minor bowl games in order to protect from getting hurt and losing money.

We all celebrate when a coach leaves a team to come coach ours, and it’s almost always before the bowl game when it happens. A lot of those same people will bitch when a player leaves his team to ensure he doesn’t get hurt before the biggest contract of his life.

Personally, I’m fine with coaches and players doing what they feel is best for them and their future.

Yeah, I still am. He became really close with this football team and even his best friend Sills thought for sure last week that he would be playing in the bowl game with him. Most of our fans seem to actually agree with his decision which has surprised me the most. I expected more to be selfish and pissed over it. I'm ok with it either way but like I said, I thought he would end up playing one more game.

Smart move. The Senior bowl is about drills and measurables and not the game itself. I have no problem with WG skipping a meaningless bowl game and attending the Senior bowl.

I'm curious what everyone thinks about Nick Bosa. He had an opportunity to make it back for the bowl game and at the time the possibility of playing in the CFP but shut it down anyway. No problem with that either being he was hurt.

I don't blame him one bit. I'd bet if you removed emotion and took a quantitative risk management analysis, the numbers would point to ANY player projected to be drafted at all should skip. Look at the salary numbers:

    https://overthecap.com/position/quarterback/

If you can make a roster in any capacity for a handful of years, you could have high six maybe seven figures saved / invested before you're 30. Maybe you don't retire on that, but money isn't ever a stress again if you're smart. At the end of the day, it's no different than dropping out of college to run a start up.
