We have four choices. In the college football "playoff" era, we have NEVER seen an undefeated school win it all, nor have we seen the #1 seed winning. In 2014 and 2017, the 4th seed won. In 2015 and 2016, the 2nd seed won. This century, only 2013 Florida State, 2010 Auburn, 2009 Alabama, 2005 USC, 2002 Miami, 2001 Oklahoma, and 2000 Florida State won the national title game as the #1 seed. That's a 7/18 or 39% success rate. Does that point to Oklahoma being our "surprise" winner? Maybe. I will argue Clemson here. I think Alabama will beat Oklahoma, and then we will have yet another Clemson vs. Alabama match-up and this time around, the Tigers will enact their revenge making it even.
