Short of winning the lottery, what would you rather be doing (including your loved ones) with your life? For me, I always thought I'd like to live somewhere tropical (the Keys, Antigua, Bahamas). Have a simple business having a small boat taking small groups out on snorkeling excursions. Beautiful weather, ocean air, making people happy, not too much overhead, occasionally catching dinner, getting in around sunset.

Nothing fancy . . . just simple, clean living.

I was thinking about this the other day.
What do I Have to look forward to?

I got to thinking about all the stuff I do now.

Love what I do but wish I was doing it somewhere else. Really ****ing hate where I live. Hoping a faculty position opens up at UNCW soon. Would love to move back to Wilmington NC ASAP.

I spend 8 months a year teaching and doing research. I want to spend the other 4 months playing poker full-time. Hoping to buy a place in Vegas in the next few years so I can spend my summer and winter breaks there.

I have came up with several ideas and creations for a hobby I have. Never pursue them, then a few years later somebody makes a couple 100k from it.

Just want to pursue that eventually. Still have ideas that haven't been used.

I also live in Arkansas.

We should meet up.

I'd like to be in charge of monitoring kids playing in a big field of rye and catching them before they run off the cliff at the edge of the field.

Nothing. I went for a long mountain hike by alpine lakes this morningwith ridiculous views, had incredible coffee after, spent the afternoon drinking at a microbrew, high as hell with 2 former army rangers in town for a funeral that i just met and my wife is meeting me out soon. There is literally nothing i woyld rather be doing.

Well I'm currently in school to be a teacher, probably not the best idea right now in this state. I could already be working for my fathers construction business and be making a ton of money, which seems like the much smarter thing to do. Only thing about that though is I hate it.

I was born in Wilmington. I'm in Atlanta now but I dream of going home.

I’ll be buying a place in Wilmington this fall or Spring. Probably just a college rental but I want to get my foot in the door and expand into AirBnB rentals. I miss Wilmy and love going back.

After raising these boys just up the road from our families, we hope to build a tiny home and retire on our mountainside plot an hour south of Denver.

I grew up traveling, as much as I love sailing and snorkeling (personal fav), I'm at peace in the mountains.

Agreed. It's far superior to my current living situation. But so are most places.
The only real problem with Wilmington is it is slap dab in the middle of Tarhole country. So there are a lot of smug guys in blue shirts but besides that it's perty nice.

Like, a legit 'tiny home'? I have a friend who is a chef (and unfortunately a State grad) and has a ridiculously growing catering business here and he has bought some land close to us and is building one of those tiny houses. Dude is not small either but is really excited about it.

You can move to Wilmington and find work. Our office is always hiring. Fck teaching.

My wife is 12 years in, so you know what a crap storm it is in Kentucky right now. I have a degree in elementary ed. I wish I'd have gotten a business degree. Couldn't buy my way into an interview and never got a job. I owned a small carpet cleaning business when I was in college. After 5 years of subbing and chasing every open job within 50 miles, I expanded my business and I love it. Making WAY more than a teacher. Idk how far you are into the program but you might consider another field. Education used to be a respected profession. Not so much any more. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Yeah, my sister (engineer) is working on (a few) prints for a 24x8' (or x9') tiny home.
Just bought another 7 acres, but we won't use it much for a few years.. hiking and camping trips, mostly. Once the boys are grown, we'll get started right away.

11 years... lol, the countdown.

I’m a teacher in Louisville and although not respected by our POS governor, teaching is still a very respected career among the common folk and is truly rewarding. The support we have gotten from parents and most of the public has been extremely encouraging and helpful. If you are meant to be a teacher, then go do it. Learn and grow through out your career while building relationships and you will die happy.

Despite the governor being an idiot, the teachers have started losing some support.

For example, they protested the proposed budget. Flipped their crap when it was passed. Then protested Bevin.... because he was going to veto it.

Honest question though for KY teachers. How much per year do they make when retired? I've heard conflicting reports .

Travel. Everywhere. I feel like a have a great job but I would give it up to travel around the globe----not exactly unique.

I would move up onto the mountains in Montana or Wyoming. Preferably in either of the Montana college towns..Then winter in Sedona.

I would love to be in my camper at my hunt camp. Turkey season is in, the largemouth are on beds and we’ve even began catching smallmouth in the lake my camp is on. The river they pull from has smallmouth and the population has exploded. Was there 2 weeks ago and caught 12 in the 3 to 5 pound range. This time of the year and deer season are my favorites!
