Why? Listened to the D1baseball podcast declaring Michigan a 1 seed host team...despite the fact that the commentators acknowledged that they don't have a single impressive series win??? They're only 4-4 vs the top 50, Clemson is 17-15. A team w/this resume should host over a handful of more deserving teams because we need a northern host? This is a joke. Compared them to Clemson below. Chose Clemson since they're ACC w/my Canes, but there are many more deserving teams than Michigan. UMs conference record is far better then CUs, but what would they be if they switched conferences?

    Michigan
    34-13 (12-5)
    4-4 vs Top 50
    1-2 Oklahoma St
    0-1 Notre Dame
    0-2 Minnesota
    1-3 Michigan St

    Clemson
    32-17 (13-14)
    17-15 vs Top 50
    2-1 S Carolina
    3-0 Boston College
    0-3 Miami
    2-1 Pitt
    0-3 Louisville
    1-2 Georgia Tech
    2-1 Florida State
    2-1 N C State

Clemson would easily be a 1 seed w/Michigan's schedule, probably a national seed. Michigan wouldn't even be an at large team w/Clemson's schedule. Any doubt about it?

They're trying to rid the image that college baseball is only a regional sport. Sadly, it is. College baseball will always be big in the Southeast, the West coast, and in Texas. The Northwest, the northern Big XII and the Northeast care more about hockey, wrestling, and lacrosse as their respective go to regional sports.

Plus the weather isn't very conducive up here until June to September. Even then rain is a hindrance.

I think the NCAA should give regionals to those teams who deserve to host but they want to grow the game, therefore they will award a regional in both the north and the west.

    Won't happen.

Michigan may luck out and host a Regional Site as a possible 2-seed due to logistics/geography/etc, but no way does the NCAA make them a 1-seed with an RPI of 30 and that resume. Same goes for Arizona (21 RPI) in the West.

Way too many revenue-producing (and more qualified) teams ahead of both schools in the RPI.

Michigan going 0-4 this week hopefully puts this to bed. If they insist on a northern host, it would need to be as a 2 seed in a region whose 1 seed's facilities aren't suitable. Not sure anyone fits that bill this year. Maybe they lean to Minnesota now that they went 3-0 this weekend? 33-15(15-5) looks good...until you look at the schedule. They've beat absolutely no one.

Minnesota only played 48 games? Is this normal for that region?

They are currently 34-18(16-7). Minnesota & Michigan will most definitely not host now, thank god.

So Michigan was a 1 seed three weeks ago, and now out of the tournament. Guess I was right. What a joke.

Well clemson went from not even making the tourney to a national seed in the matter of a few weeks. I guess the selection committee is a what have you done for me lately crowd. South Carolina went from being a top 8 team all season to losing their national seed in less than a week. I mean why play the damn regular season?

What? Oklahoma State cares about Baseball. We also care about Wrestling, Basketball, Golf, and obviously Football.
